Argonath does not, in any way, support the use or distribution of pirated copies of games.
Recently alot of questions regarding piracy have been asked on this board, aswell in Hardware/Software support.
Please do not ask other members for help if this regards support to pirate a game, support to find a crack, or if the game runs online without need of a legal copy, these kind of questions are to be removed immediatly and you might have a risk that actions might be taken against you.
Save yourself a lot of trouble and headaches, buy your games legal at your preferred gamestore.

Just to add an un-official note.
Try before you buy can be a good method, but if you like a game and are going to spend a lot of time playing it, the least you can do is reward the developers for their work by buying the original.
Remember that without people buying games, the developers can not afford to renew their products and bring them up to date with the latest technology.
Finally if you are going to do something illegal, don't bother others with it and use your brain.

Nice one, and good point Ryan

I owned SA when it came out in 2005 but for PS2, i didnt feel i needed to re-buy it so i pirated it.

LOL. Did you backtrace him aswell?

I have a disc, but it is badly scratched so will not install the game.
Would you consider it illegal to download it now?
Cause I ain't paying more than the disc is worth to fix it
-
I installed my original GTA:SA on my old PC. I think it still has it on it, but my CD got cracked when I dropped a stack of DVDs ontop of it!

Clean it with alcohol. Add the alcohol on a piece of cotton, wait for 1 minute till it dissolves and then slide through the CD a bit.
Helped me many times. I believe there is a special mixture just for scratched CD/DVD-s

No.
You purchased the license already, that is what you paid for.
-
As long as you own the cd-key for the game it's not wrong to download the game.
I personally download and crack all my games because I don't have a working CD drive and can't really be bothered to fix it, yet my games are all legally purchased.

I do not consider it illegal as you already own the game, and you have customer rights to it already.
Piracy isn't good, and never will be. Piracy to me is just simply for people who can't be bothered saving up to buy it, so they decide to stay in their seat and wait for it to download rather than go outside to the game store.
-
I dont get cash, therefore i can't save up, therefore i can't buy games, and no one is getting them for me, yet i have a computer.... so what am i supposed to do.... leave my pc to dust?

Sell your PC, and dedicate to fishing.

The criminal charge in piracy is usually not from the actual pirating of the game itself.. at least that's not what they make you pay for most of the time. The reason you get caught and have to pay is because if you're using file sharing software like BitTorrent you're helping others download it as well, which is considered as putting the file up and illegally distributing it.
So, even if you download a game you own through one of these websites, it is still illegal, even if you already own the game.

Easy to say that isn't it. Specially because it's already hard for those with university degrees to get a job in my country, so i guess it should be easier for me since i'm 16 and i am in 11th grade!
-
I bought a game this week, I've paid all of my dues and don't have to pay anymore.

I had a job when i was 15. I worked at a store making minimum wage. Please do not even try to say its not possible to get a job at the age of 16. Becuase when i was that age, almost everyone i knew had some sort of part time job....
-
Reasons why I got my copy off the internet.
1.) Hard to find in stores.
2.) No way of buying things online.
3.) Why the hell would I want to waste my money on a REALLY OLD game that Rockstar Games hardly cares about because they have new projects out like GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption, and L.A. Noire!

1. More satisfaction when you find the game in the store then, i recall running from shop A to shop B to shop C for one particular game, but i got it!
2. Same here.
3. Because the creators did put all their time and effort in it. Even if it's old, it's not that it's worthless.
@Alarba:
SafetyMoose is right, i also worked for a minimum wager at the age of 15 in a Computer store, it didn't really earned much, but enough to have a nice saving. Now at the age of 18, the wager is (of course) already raised by 75 percent, but the 25 percent you get at the age of 15 (most likely between EUR 299-499) is definatly worth the effort.
-
Different country. Different reality.
almost everyone i knew had some sort of part time job....
Well i only know 1 friend with some sort of a part time job.
I had a job when i was 15.
at the age of 15 in a Computer store
Illegal to work if you are under 16 in Portugal.
-
Illegal to work under 18 in Brazil. darn this, i'd love to work at a computer shop for 300 euros monthly, that's a good salary actually.

You don't even use that currency in Brazil.
-
>Be 18
>Can purchase stuff online by myself
>Have a job
>Have lots of savings
>Can buy what I want

Yeah, but that's why we got Euro/dollar prices on the news every freaking day. So I can basicly tell the Euro is like..2.5 BRL, So 300 euros, pretty much 600-700 BRL. Which is actually more than the minimum Salary for some workers. :D

Seriously, I don't want to pay for my games. Because i allways throw them somewhere in my room, And then i can't find them when i really need them,Then i download them instead, And when i find them. (The original disc) It won't install the game, Coz the disc is messed up with scratches etc..

Legal age in Australia is 14 without minimum wage

In my country several games are not coming the actual way. They are not taking the rules and regulation. So it is not possible to collect the game in actual way.

People easily tag others as "pirates", but they never hear their story now do they?
60$, thats the monthly salary of most helpers/servants in India if they are actually lucky, so imagine that amount being paid to a game, movies n shit, now who would actually be doing that? Now if they were in parts maybe i will also buy em, pocket money going to the game in installments while i get to play it hands on, but i aint collecting 3k indian rupees and throwing it away on something like a game -.-
-
**ferrari32 shuts up coz he doesn't wanna be banned :D

-
Arr. I don't get it.
Jokes aside, where should the line be drawn? Would uploading your entire /anim folder to help a friend repair his damaged / corrupted copy of GTA so he can play Argonath again, be counted as piracy?
-
Is it against the ToS? Probably.
Is it piracy? Depends on laws in your country.
Is anybody going to come after you, arrest you and take your computer away? No

Depends on three things:
-are you spreading it
-do you make money with it
-do you have more than you can ever use
if one of these things happens, they just might break down your door

I really really liked this one.I would buy all my games i do like, but so bai i ain't so rich.My parent's would be "THE HELL 30 EURO FOR THAT GAME?? NO F**KING WAY!(30 Euro - 60 Leva in my country, much money)" But if i had the chance i would escape and buy it lol. These codes, searching for working ones, cracks, other bullshits etc. makes me nervous searching them all day long,so i support Gandalf with these words.
