Title: [GUIDE] What you should do after /taxi...
Post by: Catzu on January 09, 2011, 05:41:43 pm

Hello folks, I usually go on driver (taxi driver) duty and daily see players who abuse the /taxi command. How?, simple, here's some examples that players shouldn't do after /taxi:

-Dont move from your location.
-Try to stay near the road not on buildings or hidden places.
-Check your /invent, not all drivers will /setfee 0 just cause you'll /wire them cash at the destination
-Also be sure that you aint got negative money (ex: -100ARD), in this case, even if the driver /setfee 0 you wount be able to enter the cab\taxi

There are also other things that you should use after /taxi:

-Use /pm, /p etc to offer details about your location, isnt very Rply but be sure it's very useful for the driver
-If a friend comes and picks you up, make sure you cancel the /taxi, how? - say that you dont need the ride anymore in /p./pm etc.
-You can also offer your gps coordinates to the respective driver

NOTE:Those tips stands for /bus /limo /train too

Topic may be updated soon
Thanks!

isnt very Rply
You're mistaking actual role-play with realism.

When you said "It isn't Rply", you actually meant 'not realistic', because you cannot /pm in RL.
Although it doesn't make full sense to me either, because /pm isn't RP :L

Accourding to the RP terms (Argonath doesn't support it), PM is OOC (out of character) so you can also use it to tell where exactly you are. Just like you mensioned. So this way it can just be used to start the actual roleplay faster (meeting, talking and stuff). Since it has nothing to do with IC, also the passenger IC'ly doesn't know anything about providing his exact location in PM. RP explanation: You are a good driver, you know every location and just knew where the passenger was, blah, blah, blah. OOC is for all these kind of situations... But you can roleplay the way you want, serious RP or any other kind of RP (unserious?). Well, actually roleplay itself is not even forced so you can just avoid it if you want. Your decision...

P.S. I'm not trying to encouraging anyone.

PM is not "RP" or "not RP". Message modes do not have a predefined use, only range (who can read them).

You are going to sit around, call other people's explanations bad, and then sit with your thumb up your ass not bothering to post a better version?

Nice
Exactly what I was going to say.

If you're going to say something bad about something and not do anything about it, consider yourself moaning by Gandalf's definition.

Meaningful topic, I know the feeling of people vanishing after they call a taxi.

...then sit with your thumb up your ass...
Made me grin.

>implying I haven't explained it already
>implying it's not an explanation if it's not equally long or longer than the "bad" explanation

I'll remove my troll post but not the one explaining RP, being as you asked what Grz meant about RP and realism. Completely constructive, as it gave you information you were confused about.

I thought this post was actually criticising one guy, not the topic.

Ah, well. Deleted
