Title: New Players
Post by: ZCFC on February 02, 2011, 12:17:28 am
Hello, I recently joined the server, as a complete new person to GTA:SA Online, I played SA of course when it first came out on PS2 and played it a hell of a lot. But decided to pick it up a few days ago.

I Joined your server, and it seemed great it first, but to be honest there is a huge impression that you don't want new players.

There seems to be no distinct way to earn money at first, and there is a large amount of people looking to scam a new player.

For example, I was looking for some work and stupidly, I accepted to enter someone casino to triple my money, I then proceeded to win, and never received my cash, and so left. The guy then got me to come back in, which once again charged me a ridiculous amount to come back in, and then once again, did not pay me.

I then mentioned this in general chat, and the general feedback was a quote I will never forget, 'Its not scamming as its just to new players who no one cares about'.

I mean seriously, the entire time I go round, I go as a driver no one wants a taxi anywhere near me. I try doing a flight service, as I am a brilliant pilot on that game, and no one is interested. So now I am stuck to a ridiculously low amount of money, with little prospects and a huge inability to improve the situation as no oone seems to even try to help a new player.

I really like the look of this server, and I will still continue to come on, but the attitude of the server, I feel, could be at least a little more helpful towards a newer player as well as existing ones. When you are going round with 2k in your pocket and people are chatting about buying up 13mil houses, and you can't buy anything, It;s depressing.

I'm sorry for this experience. You must have met a lot of bad apples who make the community look bad. Remember, if one is trying to scam you in casinos, you are always open to create a court case against them. Scamming new players not only is against the rules, but is also against good moral and thus, those who attempted to do this should be banned on spot.

Now about money making. You are free to apply to many businesses here on Argonath, for more information, please refer to this forum (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?board=38.0). Many new (and old) corporations and workforces are available to chose from. And if needed, I can pay back for your monetary loss as that is very unexceptional from anybody who does that to new players.

Also, remember to use the /report function on those, who you feel, are mistreating you on server. The available administrators will take action as mistreating newcommers is a serious offense.

Please remember that not everyone on the server is friendly. Among the good are always the bad. If you have any questions or any concerns, please contact me via forum PM function, or in-game (username: Nathan_Aldebourne). If I am not available to help, feel free to ask using the /h (message) function in game. If you feel that one is mistreating you and they tend to get away with it, use /report [id] [reason] function or send a message to the managers at [email protected].

Again, sorry for the bad welcome from our players, I hope that this shows an example that those who mistreat others shall be punished for their actions.

Sincerely,
Nathan

Pfft, I got rejected from SA:MP the first time I connected too. Notably by Wash Corleone. You'll get over it, and once you do you'll find Argonath is a great place to spend time.

This is where 'missions' would come in useful.

Bro, you won't make any real money while being a taxi driver, you'll lose a lot of time and will have to pay for the fuel aswell.
Your best bet is to either find some good cops that you can patrol with, the ones that roleplay. Or go to a criminal group, they take care of each other, the good ones anyway.

I'll suggest you head in the direction of the 58th or the Ancelotti.

Also, partake in events and always have money on you to join the lotto.
I won 1400000$ in two days by winning some events and then winning the lotto the next day.

I myself have tried to roleplay a bodyguard/private security lately, and the interest isn't really there for anyone. I even though I pay for all of my weapons myself and such, providing vehicles like the Huntley or a Maverick. I usualy spend more on /ads than what I earn.

It is a shame that Argonath doesn't have any 'missions' that players can make some money off. You can't always rely on making money off other players. If players can make steady money from script, they will be more prone to spending it on other players and not just themselves.

Hi,

First of all yes it is hard to earn money on Argonath. That is the idea of the game, as by making it harder people might value what they have more.
As for a casino that does not pay you, please report. Casino owners are responsible for their staff, and if they fail to pay the owner can be disowned, without compensation. If it was not casino staff, then it will fal under the scamming of new players, which is strictly forbidden.

Unfortunately we have a bunch of players that feel the need to offend others. We do try to teach them manners, but they keep showing their ugly faces (do not mean the member pic section here ).

Life in Argonath can be hard at first, but that makes it worth wile to survive.

When I first joined, I rolled with the i9 guys, they taught me to shoot cops. Then I got to the wilson gang and Vercetti and they taught me how I could role play and stuff. The money came from paydays as I didn't know any other way. Then I found out where I could grow weed and where I can order heroin, since then I got a stable income. I don't care about money anymore, I give it away to good friends whenever I like to.

It's not that hard to make money, though it goes the fastest the illegal way. Accept Romeo's offer and ask him if he could learn you some RP, the commands and stuff.

I would like to teach you as well, so if you'd like, just come to East Los Santos any time and if you see any "Cesario Estrada" around, ask him. I'll teach you some stuff.

What's your IG name?

Everyone here on Argonath has had a rough start, including me.But as time passes, things change, the players change.Their minds evolve and start to understand of what being on Argonath feels like.

The players are the only thing keeping this community up and going. But the thing I mostly dislike, is that, the regulars discriminate the new players, by saying to them 'Omfg, he's new, leave him alone, he'll probably start DMing, drive drive'.

If you open your minds, you will see that you have been a new player too when you joined.Remember on how you were treated, and welcomed to this community, and than turn your eyes on the new players.

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. As said, you happened to encounter the bad portion of the server.

It is my personal belief that such malevolent and selfish players who abuse our newcomers should be purged from this community.

I hope that you stay in our community and experience what good it has to offer. It certainly was enough to keep me here for several years, along with the other hundreds of active forum users.

Okay, battle. I am sorry for not realizing that your definition of "troll" is being completely 100% dead serious and honest about everything you say and that what you say does not have the intention of causing any sort of havoc. I'll try to read your mind next time and completely go off topic mainly for the intention of reeking havoc all over the place and completely lose my mind only to result in loss of respect, loss in leadership skills, and loss of intelligence. It's clear that you are oblivious of my gradual but seriously mind blowing change from retardation to domestication.

Let it be known that I and only I know who this person truly is. Here's a hint: they're not a new player.

Why do people claim to have a hard time starting a new "life" on Argonath's SA:MP server. I did it in three simple steps, which I have pictures of.

then
(http://i53.tinypic.com/27xe45j.jpg)
and finally

click yes on this screen.

Hope this helped :)

When I first joined the server I didn't even know we had money (To be honest at first I thought it was a CnR server, not because of what I saw but because I didn't know RP servers existed), but I still had enough money to live on, (I never bought weapons, for example. I actually NEVER bought anything). Then I joined my FIRST ever group, because I got copbanned. This group was called Koltsov, they taught me almost everything I knew. What I am trying to say now is, well... Getting others to help you play will give you a big head start. For example, I didn't know the ''/ME'' command existed untill someone told me on another server, I didn't know we had drugs on the server untill around 2 months of playing, I didn't know I could get a passport and stuff like that. So ALWAYS ask for help if you need it.
Oh and also about that casino scam; F8 is your friend :).

Bill Withers - Lean On Me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9hMLnmeNm4#)

Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on

Lean on me...

I hoped this helped -  :)

i think this song would fit better. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbVHbEGerRA#)

but yeah, new players are defenately discriminated. not only by the bad bunch of people, but by some admins too. (getting instant ban without warning after a minor offense which is questionable for example).
There is a good side of the server tho, but don't expect someone to give you 3 limo's, a house, and a weapon stash worth 3 million.

the safest way to get money is to be a medic, drive from lspd to gs9, see where the most people are, and wait for someone to get health (you can get 1k every 8-15 people you heal). being a medic and going on missions does not pay however. most firemen only get hurt once, and even then dont need a heal. if you are lucky you can get maybe 500$, that is if the fireman is not that great in doing his job, and you are the only medic on scene.

being a cop could pay off too, but i think going on cop duty to get money is very wrong. it also sucks when you chase a suspect for 10 minutes, finaly get him and some other officer takes him. ofcourse this is reportable afaik, but it still happens a lot.
people will shoot at you, so buying armor is safe, but it will cost you 500$. big chance you will get killed by someone shooting a combat shotgun once in a while.

Being a fireman can pay off pretty well, however, you will have to wait for missions. some of those missions can not be done alone, but only on the time you don't want more firemen around you, there will be someone "helping" you.

growing weed/heroin will pay off good. but transactions are illegal, and there is a big chance someone will scam you. Also, since it is the fastest way to get money, be prepared of people standing on your growfield, which might want to kill you. good idea to do when the server is pretty empty.

Events and Lotto's are the best way to get rich. you need to be lucky to win one of both, but since the lotto min. price is allways 35k+, statistically seen the ticket pays of x3.5+ of your money put in ( 100$ * 100 tickets = 10.000$). but expect more once you win.

I suggest you would just make small money with being a medic/cop/fireman/drugdealer and try your luck in events and lotto's

im replying serious, because i know and feel what the topic starter means.
as for admins not discriminating:
i dont think using hacks is a minor offense.
i do believe people that play just 2 weeks are new.
if a new member plays according to rules for 2 weeks, and then make one small mistake (cophunting or dm for example), shouldn't be banned. the only reason i can think of why an admin would do such things is to discriminate new players.

Admins won't ban without previous warnings. If you're already breaking the rules for a couple days, they'll ban you for sure.

And a ban isn't that bad, you could see it as a heavy warning.

People who deliberately use hacks on the server deserve to be banned without a warning, especially regulars / veterans.

When entering the server, you are informed that hacking / cheating is not allowed, so there is no reason for you to do so. This goes even more for veterans and regulars who have known from experience.

The topic was NOT in fact because he had a bad experience, but rather, he chose to abuse those who have the thought that the majority of new players have a bad experience, and decided to get a reaction out of them.
