Title: And the abuse continues...
Post by: Cutt3r on February 12, 2011, 07:14:00 pm
More than once have I been forced to make topics such as this. Mostly to deter my friends from committing grave mistakes which force the administration to show the door out of Argonath RPG for a long long time...
I write this owing to the recent number of bans being executed for exploitation of a bug, seemingly well known, yet gone un-reported till date. The people banned will not see Argonath RPG SA:MP for a minimum of 3 months - that I will ensure. If you are 'smart' to find a bug and exploit it, we are smarter. We know how to look and we know where to look. Logs record almost everything you do - apparently many of you forget this part and think you will not be caught or will be pardoned easily.
Atleast 6 people have been banned for the exploitation of the bug I am talking about. There is no need for anyone to ask "Is this the bug you are asking about?" because the bug I am talking about, if used, will surely be known by the player as clearly being wRONg and not allowed to use.
I will implore you - do not use any bugs for advantage or cheat on server. We will find out, sooner or later.
And you will lose all you made through cheating and more....that is assured.

What if a player finds a bug unknowingly, thinking it is new to the server and does not realize it is a bug, and continues using it. Will the player still receive the same ban time, or be banned at all?

It's quite obvious to know if something is a bug or not. And to my knowledge, you will be banned the exact same time as someone who knowingly abused it.
But once it again, it doesn't take a genius to realize the difference between a working script and a bugged script.

Want to avoid a ban? Report it, get the problem taken care of.

Believe me, this work doesn't work like that.

......What most of the time pisses off is that you are never getting to the point, administrators.

What's the bug you're talking about and what's the abusage of it.

Well there is already a player on the forum who has admitted to a script abuse without knowledge of it actually being abuse, obviously. Otherwise he would not have said he did. I was not saying the bug that was said in this topic, rather any bugs at all.

Anyone else willing to tell the bug or will be a silent rebel which will lead to more misunderstanding?

If you see something that's out of the ordinary or doesn't look right, report it to admins right away..

You don't need to know details, because otherwise people will exploit it regardless of our strict warnings if we explained the bugs to the public.

Before you guys quip about the scripts: We are doing our best in fixing the bugs, but they often go unfixed if nobody reports them and instead abuse it for their personal gains.

If you find anything that gives you a large amount of cash or transferrable goods by using it in another way as support for RP, it is a bug.
When you find a bug, or think you have found one, you can do two things:

1. Use it as much as you can and tell all your friends, then be surprised if you get banned.
2. Contact admins/scripters and not using it or telling anyone until they tell you it is not a bug, or it has been fixed.

Why we are not writing what exactly the bug is - because it will be exploited by more people and to be frank - we do not want that to happen nor are we interested in keeping people banned for a long time(contrary to general opinion many have).
Basically if you figure out that you are gaining an advantage which is monetary, directly or indirectly, and use it to your advantage without reporting it - you can be pretty sure you will be out of server soon.

Why? Just tell about the bug and ban those idiots who still attempt to try it. Their own fault, not yours... It's actually obvious about which bug you're talking about, but well, whatever...

Weed bug. Now stop asking about it.

The reason that it hasn't been reported when the people were banned is simple - Common sense would tell you being the banning admin that a bug is obviously on the loose. Are you going to sit there and ignore the bug after you just banned somebody for abusing it? If you do, then I will have lost faith in the administration.

I already explained my self, about this bug.... I reported it once about a year ago, to Tommy_Corleone at that time, and this time about a month ago to Sky_Hawk. I still got a ban even after explaining that I had bugged weed..

Is it the bug where you can grow, grow, grow, without aving to wait? I had reported this to an admin a long while ago.

Sorry to say but it was not the weed bug i was talking about. They say that when someone assumes, it makes an 'ass' out of 'u' and 'me'  :D. Keep the lesson in mind, never assume anything :)

What the bug is, is irrelevant. You can take it to be applicable to whichever bug u want. But the bottom line is simple - you see a bug, report it to admins and do not use it or talk about it to friends.

Wanna hear something funny?

I found a Casino on The Strip which was for sale, I went inside to look around,
and in one far corner of the Casino, the Map disappears and you begin to fall, forcing you to /EXIT.
I reported this right away on the public chat and asked for an admin. I showed it to him and he made note of this.

This was atleast four months ago. Yesterday, I found the Casino still unowned and the bug still existing.

This probably is down to the same crap about admins supposedly "ignoring" reports.
There simply aren't enough admins and bug reports will likely be lost track of and left unfixed.

Hello Ray,

About that specific bug, you may report here also http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?board=98.0 (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?board=98.0)

That above is the bug reports section of which is checked regularly, more than likely an object may be needed to be placed in the way of the glitched area.

Why would they waste their time fixing so irrelevant bug... I mean, it's not even worth it.
Will you get free weapons by falling down and typing /exit? Will it make you have godmode?
The point is not gaining advantage towards others players using bugs.
Like 1 year ago, I got banned for abusing a bug which gave me monetary advantages(which I think that Cutt3r remembers) and I can assure you that they'll get you - just don't abuse any bugs, it ain't worth it xD

It's just a matter of a bugged (or missing) interior. A manager or propertyadmin could easily fix that. If you would have written the ID of the casino it would have been fixed before this post was made. :)
