Now - when I was banned I decided to play on a russian RPG server I found, it sucked balls but that's not the point. The server had rather interesting feature, and it was : jump switch disabled. The point of it was: you couldn't jump or sprint with ANY weapon until the shooting animation ended. So yes, shooting from stubby took years.
Now, I know this would be impossible to implement as it totally disables any point of DM skills on the server, and makes the firefights more dependant like in real life - on tactic and luck, but I want to see you guys discussing, both minuses and pluses of that idea. I'll go with some:
+More realistic feel to gunfights, making tactic alot more important and the whole shootouts will look more realistic like in SA:MP, they look pretty retarded now
+Less noobs whining when they get killed (like me)
+Less 'gun speaks louder than words' action, maybe it will decrease DM everytime a little bit as everyone would have really similar chances during firefights.
-Less point in training DM skills, it won't make any sense anymore
-Many good shooters whining about it
-Less new players 'scared' by that system (this is both for minus and plus, as others might like it)

I said russian RPG server...if you would say 'I'm driving a 4 seater' that's advertising too? No, it isn't, but if you would say something like 'I'm driving Ford' it would be. Chill out man, besides it's not like Argo has competition to worry about.

but we dont need to even think about it, since our managers are constantly criminal's and are in gunfights, so no chance of it being implemented... :neutral:

It wouldn't remove gunfights, it would just make them more difficult and realistic. Fighting looks pretty retarded to whoever who is not a casual VC:MP player, just look at the fighting style - sprinting or jumping as much as possible to avoid getting shot. It looks retarded and unrealistic, whereas if we would disable jump switch, the gunfights would look more like in movies and SA. But indeed many players like Klaus or Pyrus will hate it, that's why I'm asking for your opinion here.

I think the same, gunfights would be funnier and players who are not that skilled would have more chances of taking down a harder target. The difference between a skilled player and a new one would be in how good he can position himself and how smart he is to find new tactics to take down targets (teamwork, snipers, use of envinroment), not how good you can bunnyhop, lagshot, slide...

I expected that post too indeed, however my point is it could be accepted in like a year or two, in future. In reduced or increased form, it doesn't matters. I agree with Leo, btw. Kinda ridiculous that in firefights the best killa is the player who will keyboard exercise and knows all the glitches.

Stop crying that you can't win a fight against better fighters than you. "OMG you not realistic OMG" This ain't some ZOMGRL server or SAMP where any old newb can win a fight.
Original Argonath has other view...
Go f**king train in shooting or ask cool fighter to be your teacher...
That way you might learn a thing or two.
We were even training in shooting on Old Argonath - to give a good answer to dmingers...
We could handle in one time even 2, 3 and even 6 dmingers around... We were getting respect from them and getting new friends...
We were not afraid to step into fight...

I'm not arguing that I can't win a fight, I almost never do (unless I use fast switch and some newb freecop manages to knock me down with a shotgun, using the F8 bug when he's invincible for a second)
I never said "OMG I WANTA THIZ PLZ!111 OR I LEAVEZ SERVERZ' but it could be indeed an interesting idea to implement in long future.
All your answers here are totally expected, I expect the same from Pyrus.
I don't whine that someone isn't realistic, but tbh, I started playing RP servers (on SAMP first) cause I didn't liked retarded fighting, bunny hopping and shit. When I came to Argo on VCMP I realised there's no rules regarding DM style, so I just kept quiet and trained. I still suck, but with some luck I was able to put Alarba how many? 2-3 times before he managed to put me down. And no, I didn't have a spaz or kevlar :P and yes, I did use the scrnshot bug.
This is not a 'DM newbie cry' but a idea topic. No matter how the idea sucks or is ridiculous, I just want to hear your opinions. This isn't a idea I'd like to be implemented anytime soon, tbh.

Making jump switch disabled means that they are DMers who only "slide".

Here are some minus points that havent been considered:
Argonath is the only RPG server in VCMP....so we live in the world of DMers..
We will stop getting new players if we disable jumpswitch, coz most DMers like it, at least the pro ones.
Also it wont make shooting realistic. Players will abandon shotguns and use M4 more often, since M4 is not affected by jumpswitch.
Shootouts will get much longer.
And most importantly, VCMP shootouts FTW! Why change it?? :D
In my opinion, if you are pro at shooting, if you deserve to win....then you SHOULD win. noany random newb pwning pros!
Coz it takes a long time and lotsa practice/hardwork to get the uber DM skill....it wont be fair for them if we implement scripts that limit their skills.

the fact is, VCMP has a unique position in the world of online gaming, and not because of its small community, but because it has unique gameplay offerings that other games just don't have. it has things that other online games from the corporate profit model of online gaming actually have systems in place to prevent that certain competitive gamers enjoy and cannot get anywhere else. because of this, VCMP will always retain a player count and some dedicated community activists, as long as there's support for the server browser and MSL we should be just fine.
about the success of basic scripts in VCMP.. in a nutshell it's because certain people want to simply create their super-cool gameplay script and let it fly on its own without any responsibility to the players, fairness, gameplay balance, or any respect for the gameplay mechanics and dynamics.
it takes a bit more than a good script with a cool idea to run a server in a game like this.
don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for anyone who attempts any sort of original game mode, or even attempts to make an already tried idea actually work out for once.. but when people overlook what a script must do in order to address universal VCMP gameplay issues on their quest for the most popular game mode.
before I go, I've got to say that it seems if people could set in-game boundaries for players easier and with more precision, and allow for more vehicles placed on the map, we'd be able to move forward with the scripting and gameplay ideas that are more in-line with VCMP's natural sand-box free-roaming chaotic gameplay, that have sorta been shelved for the day we get an autistic miracle-scriptor, or the day a magical VCMP release answers all of our prayers and lives up to all of our wildest dreams.
PS: About the training: Players have been training DMing in Argonath since 2006, and they always will as Aragorn says.....though no other argonath server has a DM /c training script. We have it coz the VCMP scripter and manager loves to DM, and it is annoying to unwarn/uncrime/rebuy weps while training.

After thinking about the consequences, i've found out that idea would not do good on our server. As the Manager and the Main Scripter already explained the reasons of why this will not be implemented, i shall lock this topic.
