I wanted to post this up on Argonath for all the police both ARPD and SAPD officers out there. This is the correct way to do a traffic stop in the United States, I did make some changes due to the fact that this is a game, but the basics stay the same. I am the Chief of Los Santos Police Department in another server and this is how I want my Officers stopping people. I just think it would be nice to see in Argonath as well. Yes you will need to make some changes due to server commands and such....
1.Lights and sirens
2.order the person to pull over via megaphone at the safest area for you the person being pulled over
and the general public
(LEAVE LIGHTS AND SIRENS RUNNING)
3. Radio plates, location, how many people in the vehicle, vehicle type, and color
4. Walk up to the vehicle either passenger, or driver, safest spot to be, your decision
5. Tell the driver who you are (I am Chief Martini, with the Los Santos Police Department)
6. Tell them why you are pulling them over, and the location of there mistake
(I am pulling you over this evening for reckless driving back there in Market near the amunation)
6. Ask for /showid
7. Run ID through /mdc or through /r (radio)(/r 4charles35 10-29 name and DOB)
8. Either warn, ticket, or nothing depending on record and violation
9. Let the person know they are free to leave at the safest available time
10. Walk back to car and shut off sirens and lights, and proceed into traffic saftely
11. BE POLITE, if you are not polite to the person the traffic stop could easily end in a 11-99
-
Sadly, there is no "correct" way to do a traffic stop. It is all about the officer himself, if he feels like following the book correctly or wants to make some fun out of the situation.
-
Well there is a correct way, however like you said it is the officers choice to do it correctly of not.....
-
Before someone starts an arguement here, I would like to thank Tosh Tini's effort in putting this. This may not be the 'correct' way, but this sure is giving me an idea of how I am going to do my next traffic stop.
-
There isn't a "correct" way but your option works good too. Thanks for the guide!

Corruption. That is how its formed.

NO.
If there's one thing I hate about cops, is being schematic like a bot. I sincerely hate when a cop does EXACT same routine when stopping me - /m1 - stops - reports in radio - /me knocks on window (ALWAYS this line) - ... you know the rest.
And the schematicness is the main reason why I'm prone to running away from a traffic stop. And what does happen then? "if suspect moves then /su ID Evading". It's not even running away from a traffic stop, not even stealing a cop's ID, never anything creative. Just "Evading", as if the cops had that word in their windows clipboard ready to be Ctrl+V'd.
Best and most pleasant traffic stops I had were done by amateur cops. Last time I /dice'd my freedom and not paying the ticket (after 2 draws, lol). What would a "z0mg RP professional" cop do? suspect me for bribery or refusing to cooperate...
Corruption. That is how its formed.
Implying it's "bad" or "non-RP" or negative in any way.

Ok well when I say "correct" way I have RL police training, been on many ride-a-longs, done many traffic stops. That is the way you do a stop irl (obviously some changes, and not using commands). Yes I enjoy a freecop who has no idea what they are doing, makes my asshole-ness come out and have a little fun. All I am stating in this topic is this is the SA-MP form of a correct base on RL traffic stop...

This isn't real life, hurr durr.

Thank you Captain Obvious, of the USS No Shit Sherlock. What is RP? RP is Roleplay, correct me if I am wrong, but in Argonath you can "RP" a criminal and rob people, or shoot cops. Then there are EMT (Medic) that you can RP a paramedic and help people that are hurt. Or you can RP a cop, which his job to make sure people abide by that laws, and protect citizens. I knew there was going to be someone who said that "this isn't real life", yeah this is "Roleplay" based off of real life, if you want to RP a cop why not do it correctly like a RL cop would? Rather then being an abusive jerk and /su for not complying with officers when I don't feel like /me gives license, unless I know why I am being pulled over for.
-
What I prefer is total randomness in role-play situations.
And that's what this server is deeply all about, using your imagination to create random and extraordinary situations for everybody's enjoyment.
-
There is no right way, everyone has different ways of doing things!
Remember this is not RLRP, it's RPG. (Roleplay game)
So my advice is to inject humor into your roleplay instead of following guides..
Yeah I also hate when officers have exactly the same routine. For example;"Do you know why I pulled you over?"

Oh yeah I am not saying you HAVE to follow this exactly, I like having fun when I am /duty. I have fun, however cover all those points I made. I like having fun traffic stops when I am both /duty and not. It is boring if it is the same robot-ness all the time. Anyways I was suggesting that, I am tired of freecops acting like Hitlers Secret Police(not intended to be rasist, you find it offensive then sorry)

[...]Or you can RP a cop, which his job to make sure people abide by that laws, and protect citizens. I knew there was going to be someone who said that "this isn't real life", yeah this is "Roleplay" based off of real life[...]
The world you're playing is based on real life (not even real life actually, but GTA San Andreas). Actual role-playing isn't based on anything - freestyle. You can play a regular human being as well as a cartoony character, an animal, a fictional creature or almost whatever you think of.
[...]if you want to RP a cop why not do it correctly like a RL cop would? Rather then being an abusive jerk and /su for not complying with officers when I don't feel like /me gives license, unless I know why I am being pulled over for.
Implying that if a cop does not do a stop "by the book", he's an abuser.
-
> implying that if a cop does not do a stop "by the book", he's an abuser.
Fix'd... No problemo (:
Since when there are RP guides? the fAck is OP talking about?

1.Lights and sirens
9 times out of 10 I am playing without sound, and there for will not notice lights and sirens behind me.
There has been a long standing order for all of ARPD that they are not allowed to give punishment or suspect for people not reacting to lights and sirens. Reason: see my first line.
2.order the person to pull over via megaphone at the safest area for you the person being pulled over
and the general public
(LEAVE LIGHTS AND SIRENS RUNNING)
Correct. But do it multiple times as the person driving may bee looking at the road, not at the chat.
3. Radio plates, location, how many people in the vehicle, vehicle type, and color
Useless spam on chat except when you believe to be stopping people who might attack you. In that case, wait for backup before engaging next steps.
4. Walk up to the vehicle either passenger, or driver, safest spot to be, your decision
Why would you ever walk up to a passenger if you are wanting to speak to the driver ?
5. Tell the driver who you are (I am Chief Martini, with the Los Santos Police Department)
6. Tell them why you are pulling them over, and the location of there mistake
(I am pulling you over this evening for reckless driving back there in Market near the amunation)
Agreed
The following points should have been numbered differently. You made a double point 6.
11. BE POLITE, if you are not polite to the person the traffic stop could easily end in a 11-99
Correct. Als always note that regardless of the nick you may see, you are pulling over someone you may or may not know (depending on your time on server and mood).
Make people understand that you will treat them with respect but they have to respect you as well

First I am not implying that if a cop doesn't do it by the books. Why is it everytime I make a topic people freak out about nothing! I was just saying this is how you irl, and in other RP servers you do it. I go by the book, but I also make it fun, yes going by the books is always boring. That was just a basic structure to go by you can fill it in with meows (Movie, Super Troopers) or you can do the repeater (same movie). And when I say that RP is based off RL, yes you can RP a monster or a dog w/e the f*** you want to RP as. The point is Argonath is a RP server based off of the game San Andreas which is a game based off of 90's gang bangers in California. There are no monsters, or elves, or orks, in Argonath so you RP something that is IRL. Thank you Gandalf, it seems like you are the only one who gets it, yes due to server and something that could happen you need to be flexible make changes. Like I said before, have fun! This is a game if you want to RP a cop that goes by the books fine. If you want to RP a cop that goes by the books and has fun at the same time fine, w/e you want!

i got pulled over 3 times in quick succession yesterday for speeding (i guess)
the first one, i paid by having my car impounded, the second one i cut my own hands off then sped off.. ended in my death
third one, i dont remember whut happened but none of the three made much sense lol

Yeah I hate getting pulled over for "speeding" it's total bs and everyone knows it lol...That and who doesn't speed? Everyone does lol!

This is the part that I would like to emphasize a lot. But do you understand, that your way of "correct" traffic stop is not based on San Andreas. Because firstly no cop in San Andreas even does traffic stop and secondly if you are wanted with 2 stars or more you get shot immediately.
Also I saw that somewhere you pointed out that this is the way it is done in other servers. That is invalid argument as this is the world of it's own.
I am not saying that your way of doing traffic stops are bad. No it is quite decent. I am only saying that it is just a suggestion how to do it. It is a correct way in a way that it does not break any of the server rules but it is not the only correct way of doing it.
-
While there are some basic protocols to be followed by every cop, it does not mean they should all be done in the same way. As the case is with Grzesiek, I also dislike excessive regular schematic methods, so I carry out my FBI duties in a slightly... different way.

I realize that. The point of that comment was that, like in World of War Craft you can RP as a fictional character, due to the fact it is based off of a fictional world of (honestly don't know what I don't play it). On the other hand GTA SA is based off of real life, yes somethings have been "stretched" like how you can randomly pull an RPG out of your ass at times. This is the correct way to do a traffic stop in America, and most heavy role play servers. I posted the topic to give people a basic structure to go by in there next stop. You can make w/e you want in between, but this is like the skeleton, fill the rest in with fun, "asshole-ness", w/e you want that's your choice. You also have a choice to not follow these rules. For one I am only a freecop on this server. Two I can't make you do anything. You have a choice on what you want to do, that is the nice part about Argonath, you can do almost whatever you want. This is just to those freecops that are always on cop duty and they honestly can't do a traffic stop at all. Btw PARK BEHIND THE CAR, its just a stop, not an armed suspect! I mean he maybe armed but you don't know that, it is just a stop hahaha

PROTIP: When pulling someone over, wait for them to avoid a pole :/

I like the effort you've put in, but I don't approve of the routine.
I am normally performing a traffic stop if they are looking particularly suspicious to me. Therefore, I ask them to switch off their engine, and to stand at the front of their car, to lower the risk of them escaping.
We don't RP like real-life cops would, as we are not a RL-RP server. We make up characters which give us great, if unrealistic, RP opportunities, and give us the maximum amount of fun. By performing the same traffic stop over and over again, it gets repetitive and boring. I will vary mine, sometimes crashing into the back of them as they stop, and fly over the handlebars if I am on a HPV-1000. It adds variation, and mostly makes the person laugh.
Thanks for showing interest, and that you would like to help the community though. People may say this is not correct, but the principle is about right, and you're putting ideas in. :cop:

I seriously hope you're being sarcastic.

I do not know why it is called a traffic stop, I think it is law enforced taxes

Pretty much  And in Argonath people drive like maniacs. I get pulled over for speeding and a car plows through my car and the cops car behind me and I still get a 200$ fine. You know you speed through Los Santos, don't deny it. And yes I ask people to /engine to shut off the car, and yes if there being suspicious then yeah ask them to hop out, but tell them why you are asking them to get out. I know this isn't a RL-RP. This also isn't a DM or C&R server. Like I said before, this is just a basic, you need to make changes not all stops are the same. I am saying this just because, I am the type who get /su for failure to comply due to the fact that I won't give the officer my license if I don't know why I am being pulled over for. Some cops act like secret police, thinking that they can tell us w/e and we HAVE to listen or be killed. Not going to happen with me, I will comply fully if you tell me why. The other day I was asked to step out of the car so they could such me and the car. I didn't move till they told me why, then I complied to everything they said. Again this is just a basic, you need to be flexible, you need to make changes due to safety of you, the person being pulled over, and the general public.

It is up to the police to stop them driving like maniacs
You should listen to the police, and comply even if they do not give a reason. If you have an issue, ask for an investigation and someone will sort out any problems. Not complying can cause many problems for you.

Good topic but I think that you should re-create the topic in ARPD forums.
