Title: FAQ: How to report a player/admin + How to act when reporting
Post by: TheRock on February 24, 2011, 03:17:38 pm
Greetings Folks, I was reading a few topics here and I saw some things I did not quite like, so I'd like to explain a few things.

Here's some situations and how you people should handle them, so there will be no hate.

How to properly report a player and what re-action to wait.
Alright the title says it all, whenever a player sees another player miss-behaving or breaking a rule, only thing he can do is to report that player. To do that, You are given a command which is: /report <ID> <Reason>.

Whenever you submit a report, you get back a green message saying: You reported playerX for: ReasonX
Now, when the report is send to the admins, administrators receive a message saying, PlayerX was reported by PlayerX for ReasonX
After a few seconds, whenever an admin takes the report, you should see a green message saying: Administrator NameX is looking at your report.

Now, That means that the specific admin like on the message is looking into your report, so you should have some patience.

What you should NOT do when reporting someone!

Things you should also consider:

The administration team, is a team based on humans! So that means that we do also make mistakes, but you should also by your side, keep calm when interacting with us, or reporting someone!

I was abused by an admin!! What should I do??

In such case, if you believe the punishment you just took was invalid, you can try reaching the admin VIA pm, with a good and calm mood, so they can interact with you also. Unless the problem is STILL not solved, you may proceed to send a report on the email!

The report E-mail for SA-MP is [email protected] < You may e-mail it anytime but make sure to include the correct time or even some evidence if possible, so they can be confirmed by a log check.

Note: Making a public topic anywhere on Forums about the situation or the admin who abused you, will not help. It's against forum rules and you will be punished for it! Mostly by getting your topic locked and trashed.

I reported a player!! Why isn't he getting punished??

Alright, this is a common situation in our days, we see many people reporting others, and because they do not see a public /warn or /kick message being used on the reported IDs, they fight with admins demanding punishment. This is something you should not do, it will get the admin pissed also like you are in such situation.

If you ever find your self in such situation, in which your self is angry and you are about to demand a punishment for the guy you reported after seeing that the report did nothing, better /q rather interact with the admin, because your nerves will also piss off the admin and that can end up getting you kicked or even tempbanned.

When you ask an admin; Why didn't you punish him? And you are told (s)he got a verbal warning, that means that the admin did speak to him and warned him.
You should also consider that most of our punishments are not always seen on public because not all admin actions are seen.
The Admin team is encouraged to communicate with the reported players and not to jump on punishment. << Remember this.

I got abused by a cop and now I'm a Suspect for no valid reason!! What should I do?

First of all, As I said previously, players in the game are controled by humans. Human has both good side and bad side. There are players who are there to abuse and annoy others, and also people who play for their fun, letting anyone enjoy the game.

In such situation, It can be a mistake, or you got suspected by someone who aims to destroy and annoy other's gameplay. What you should do is listed bellow:
In case the officer refuses to give you an investigation, you may proceed to send an report ingame.

Someone stole my weed/scammed my weed/weapons!! What should I do??

Alright, this is another common situation. Criminals stealing or scamming each other! Now you should consider a few things, so keep reading.

In-case someone steals your weed, it is your OWN fault! Maybe growing weed is legalized but you should be armed and be ready for any criminal who will try to steal your weed. When it comes to weed or drugs stealing, the situation is on the hands of grower and the criminal(thief).. You may not proceed to a report for this, unless someone comes where you grow weed and kill you for no reason and no roleplay. (So report is for DM but not stealing weed.)

If no admin or moderator or anyone of admin ranking was IG and I spam /report, is it still considered a rulebreak?

Spamming /report is a rulebreak in any way, as spamming is a rulebreak on itself.
Not thinking about the fact that it's kinda lifeless when you KNOW there are not admins online and you /report on purpose...

Add the following please (yeah probably you'll have to cut out the ''not-nice'' words but the main point is clear enough):

Talk to the player and try to solve the situation between each other. Players aren't supposed to go behaving like defenseless babies who need admins for every fart around them. You're playing GTA. There are weapons. You get provoked you kick your provoker's ass.

You get DMed and the other player doesn't listen to you and admins can not help you out, carry on - you don't lose anything when dying. If you carry 10k of weapons you're really stupid because you know you'll never use them all. And if you are packing up for a big situation then you shouldn't be cruising around attracting attention.

You are with your mafia friends and some green-jacket dude starts hitting you. Intimidate the new player. Using verbal chat with someone who has no interest on it will not attract their attention. Aim your guns, give warning shots, use animations - USE YOUR BRAIN. New players are easily intimidated depending on the reaction of the regulars. If you go reporting him then I suggest you rethink if you are really a gang/mafia. Calling the cops is also another choice.

If you get abused. Heh buddy there's a 98.9% chance you're in LS. Corrupt cops everywhere - either you learn to survive or you get killed in the jungleland. Why not try calm cities like SF, LV, or the countryside? Old rules topic used to say that the main idea is that we are all living in a corrupt country. Unleash that sportsmanship inside yourself.
