Title: Virus named Gen:Variant.Buzy.1138
Post by: JayCalian on February 26, 2011, 03:05:42 pm
Hey. I just ran a virus scan with BitDefender. It found a virus named Gen:Variant.Buzy.1138.

It was located in :

C:\Users\*******\Desktop\Games\MBWMP1132.rar=>MBWMP1132\mb_warband_dedicated.exe
Virus' name : Gen:Variant.Buzy.1138
Action : Archive moved to Quarantine

I quarantined the virus. But I don't know exactly what it means , as it didn't allow me to delete the virus. Some help please?

After a quick google search, it seems to be some kind of a trojan downloader. I believe you'll be able delete it if you run Windows in safe mode.
Sure it can be a false report if it's some keygen.

It's not a Keygen. It's a dedicated server file for Mount & Blade Warband.

I believe it is using an illegally modified exe isn't it ? That of which cannot be discussed on the forums.

If so, I suggest that you contact them about this.

You could get some sandbox software like Sandboxie and try running the .exe file in it, see what happens.

some files contain certain scripts that match certain virus's and certain virus scanners pick this up and think it contains a virus or is a virus, most of the time it is, but in a case like this, id say its an error with the scanner I've had this happen to me with a *cough* version of Just cause 2 (it was 100% clean and proven to be this), check some forums to see if others have had the same problem if so, try white listing it, or if you believe it is safe, just white list it, the white list is there for a reason, and if you have errors like this, use it.
