Title: IV:MP Crashes?
Post by: Hidduh on March 01, 2011, 11:22:56 pm
I received GTA IV as a gift on Steam and i'm trying to play IVMP.. I've patched to 1.0.7.0 and installed the latest version, but got this message after the R* logo's and the GTA IV text with the background music, the FPS keeps switching between 57 and 60 and when I ALT-TAB it gives me this error;

I've tried/did the following;

Help is appreciated, thanks.

1. You don't need to update to 1.0.7.0 Patch if it's bought through steam
2. Don't use the latest Patch for IV:MP Argo :x

The latest "Test" version of IVMP is extremely buggy and I guess that is the one you have installed.

The version of IVMP you need is R2-2 Here (http://files.iv-multiplayer.co.uk/beta/downloads.php?f=IVMP-0.1-Beta-1-R2-2.zip)
As for the steam version, last I heard, the Steam version must also be updated to 1.0.7.0.

steam versions are not supposed to be compatible, i have a tutorial here http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=66273.0 (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=66273.0)

also you cannot run it as a steam shortcut, you need to make a manual shortcut, i had this problem too, and if you follow my tutorial, it should work fine, also installing a patch on a steam version doesnt work..... youd be better off wiping it and re-downloading it thru steam, steam auto updates the game to the latest, so u need to downgrade not update, so installing a patch will stuff things up.

Got a similar error today and fixed it.

Uninstall IV:MP.
Remove the IVMP folder from GTA IV game directory.
Remove any "Trainer" -alike files from game directory.....
Install IV:MP
