Title: Max Payne 3
Post by: Huntsman on April 21, 2011, 04:33:49 pm
Hey guys. I'm huge fan of Max Payne 1 and 2. But Max Payne 3 is going to be garbage IMO. Rockstar Games is totally screwing up the game... Bald Max Payne who looks like Bruce Willis? Cmon....  Brasil? Jeez.... And another voice actor? OMG i'm going to die... But... Rockstars had finaly realised that fans are not too happy about them screwing up Max Payne franchize, so they decided to make some changes that is acceptable for fans:

Name me one game Rockstar ruined? None - exactly!
I was skeptical at first as everyone, but now I'm sure Rockstar will make it a hit, they always do!
So don't worry and make early judgments, wait it out..

I COMPLETELY agree with you on this one, am a hell big fan of Max Payne as well and I think the first two games were absolutely great work.. I'm very suspicious about this third one, that is it gna work.. The changes seem to be ok but still wouldn't be 100 % sure that how it's gna be. I wish that it'll be the same level or even better than the earlier games. I truly dislike the fact that it's in Brazil 'cuz in my opinion Payne belongs to the underworld of New York. :P

And sry to go a bit off-topic but did any one of you see the Max Payne movie, what did you think of it...? I think it was a fail and didn't rly match the game as well as it should of had. Meh..
I can bet it'll be a bigger hit than the previous ones.

About the movie, it was nice, not really great but good enough.

About the game I have played both MP1 and MP2, They were fun.

And Ryutkyulis, What did you achieve by giving us the link? That people on other forums treat you like trash as well? Meh.

He's not bald for the entire game, he looks the same as we remeber him from 1 & 2 through various parts.  Max being bald is irrelevant anyway.  What's not to like about running around Brazil's Favela's?  Beats the same old "New York" type setting we see.  Max Payne will be a hit with the success of GTA IV & Red Dead Redemption ... Rockstar ain't going to fuck this up.  When HAS Rockstar seriously fucked up on a game anyway?  Besides their Tennis game that is.

Not really, GTA 4 works awesome on PC, Its just how you tweak it. I have a laptop and it was shitty for me at first too, and as usual and like many people I cried about the bad coding. I have 1.0.7.0 patch at that time.

After that, Reading a few topics about modding GTA 4 , I installed patch 1.0.4.0 and now have it heavily modded with all the icenhancer and stuff, and car mods. and it runs smooth as heck! Literally like butter. On the other hand I have not yet tried it with IV:MP. Not sure if it will work or not. But SP is just AWESOME!!

About Max Payne 3, It looks more like GTA 4 now from the screen shots. -.- One thing I always loved about Max Payne, how he could dodge the bullets and time slowed down while doing that. Was fun as heck :D

So what that it works good if you 'tweak it' ? The fact it's possible to reach advanced requirements and have the game still lag for you is just totally unprofessional. TBH, Rockstar should make games for PC first then port it on consoles, since there is no chance of console version being badly optimized as it has better performance than PC, but no they have to release console versions and get monies, then make PC port

My point is not that the tweaking is essential, but that , that the Patch 1.0.4.0 runs game MUCH MUCH like 200x smoother than the patch 1.0.7.0 , which is the final patch. So I'd say its NOT the game, but the patch making it run slow.

And about the console part, They won't, because Console games sell 3x more expensive than the PC version, that's why they work on it the most and release DLC and stuff. DLC = more money.

you see, this is why optimization sucks so much on this game. 1.4 works better for you, yet I gained +8 fps on 1.7, compared to 1.4's -10 and 1.0's +10...i could just play on unpatched but they fixed some annoying things

Get Realism IV and Visual IV along with patch 1.4, will give you a huge boost in FPS, I use Icenhancer with them.

The thing is that we shouldn't have to do such stuff to get the game run smoothly.

They said they have separate sub-divisions for all 3 platforms, so we will not be getting a regular shitty port this time.

Exactly.

If a game doesn't run at 30 FPS with no problems such as texture loading stutters at Medium settings while you fulfill minimal requirements, then it's just a bad game. If it doesn't while your PC fills advanced requirements, then it's just..

System requirements are out, and they are quite high. Apparently the game is devided to 2 discs on xbox 360 and will take 35 Gb of HDD space on PC. :conf:

For those who are in tank. These are minimum supported and maximum supported hardware pieces. These aren't minimum/recommended specs.

Well, as a huge fan of previous games, it seems that it aint that bad as i thought it will be. I didnt got it yet, but the videos out there are nice and the game seems to be awesome, rather than dissapointing. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the game.
P.S: Multiplayer seems nice too

Finally got the game. Really liking it so far, still feels like a Max Payne game. Controls are tight and the game runs incredibly smooth with settings maxed out, which is nice considering Rockstar's previous work on PC versions.

Game isnt bad.. The cinematics are intÄ—resting , the game has interesting story twists and etc.. The gameplay is epic too. Seems like being afraid of Rockstar ruining the game was the naive thing to do

But we all know if Remedy made it and Sam Lake would have written it, it would be better

Actually there are more, but I can't remember right now what they're called.

And as for the cutscenes, they are more frequent in the beginning of the game as the story is being set. But there is definitely more gameplay than cutscenes.

The story is interesting and has some nice twists, but I think it's more about the character of Max and his personal issues. And that they have done very well.

The actual gameplay is a lot fun also.

Finished the game on hard. Exterminator was right, i just noticed that there are Easy medium and Hard. Well, it was still very hard!

Anyways, the game was nice and challenging, the story was epic, so was the cutscenes. But i didnt really like the style Max PAyne 3 used. In previous max payne games, Max Payne used to be melancholy ex.cop with nothing to loose, in Max Payne 1 he kicked anyone's ass that got in his way, and in Max Payne 3 they made them a psycho bald killer.
