Title: "Shitting on me?"
Post by: Squeak on April 26, 2011, 05:57:25 am: Why do people in the community always address flame towards the server or other people as "shitting on people?" I just want to know the origins of the phrase since it's always sounded peculiar to me.

I think that Russians used it as well as Us, cause of which Aragorn 'started it' on Argonath.

We use that phrase in Ireland to say 'are you kidding me' but we say 'Are you shitting me?' not 'Are you shitting on me'. I don't think Aragorn means it the kidding meaning judging the way he posts, I think he means it more like towards your second meaning of it.

Oh, but then again if its a question you probably want "Shitting me", not "Shitting on me." "Are you shitting me?" means the same as "Are you kidding me?"

Which means:

doing all possible things to make another person look bad: gossips, flame, fake facts, giving only bad opinion, bulling, provoking people to disrespect the person, etc. etc. etc.

In other words:

try to put as much shit as you can to make the person smell...

Anyway, I think the phrase "shitting on..." is a little more broad than things such as disrespect, flame (yes, they're two different things), harassment. So many people have been banned for it and were confused by the statement "shitting on" because of its apparent broadness.
