Hi. I heard that you are like an god when it comes to server stuff.
So i have some questions.
We are an total of 4 computers in an network. And all 4 comps are connected to an Broad band router.
I want to open 2 simple ports ( In and out port)
Because i want to be able to stream live video. I have the software. But i need to open 2 ports.
And what should i choose? Because i want this for only my comp and not the 3 others. But i want them to function normally so that my settings don't affect them.
I found some groups of settings that haves to do whit ports. So what should i choose?
DMZ host setup: Makes all ports open for one computer at same time in the network.
This one i will not choose as i understand it because i don't want to open all ports avaible.
ftp private port: Not my choise yet.
Virtual server setup: This one i think i will have to choose.
I have an numbers of ways to choose from: TCP,UDP,HTTP,HTTPS,FTP,POP3,SMTP,DNS,TELNET,IPSEC,PPTP and so on. Many ones.
Now what connection is most suitable if the User wants to show the video tru windows media player? As when you open the url you have to type http://x.x.x.x.:xxxxx ?
Also i tried it whit this example:
Name Ip Protocol Ext port Int port
Video Live x.x.x.x TCP xxxx xxxx ( The ports did not match each other )
Now i tried whit this in windows media player V 11: http://x.x.x.x:xxxx ( The external port )
Didin't work. So i tried whit the internal port. Didint work ethier.
So, What i'm doing wrong?
( Off course everyone else is allowed to answer but i prefeer sauron as he knows alot of this stuff, Atleast what i think )
Thanks in fore hand ;)

ok to open ports...
192.168.0.1 :))))
Next...
to get the port
so for shout cast
u open 8000 UCP and TCP (i think its UCP)
:) then it should work :P
-
Cant choose UCP. Its not in the list.
Is it UDP then?
And can you explain it more. Like About the external and internal and if the 8000 should be the same on both things?

192.168.0.1 :))))
This is only your router's address. The address depends on the router model. I'd try 192.168.1.1. 192.168.0.1 192.168.1.254 192.168.0.254 255.255.255.255. If none of these open up a page, find out the model of your router and search for " <your router model> open ports " on Google.
-xcasio :)

I know how to acces my router. The question is about ports not how to acces the router itself.
External Internal
I tried Tcp and port 7856 6870
And UDP ( i don't have UCP)
External Internal
Port 7856 6870
Tried Both The external port and internal: Still dosen't work.

Problem solved. It works. Thanks for everyone that helped me.
The solution:
I haved to have internal port and external port the same port. And static up for my comp.

Note: You can delete or lock it yourself by looking at the low-left of the page, there are 2 blue tabs.
