Title: /opentrunk, /opendoor [1,2,3,4], /openhood, /neonlights, /caregnine [on/off]
Post by: Rami on May 14, 2011, 02:02:13 pm
Who said we can't control our cars perfectly? Yes we can!

I've discovered that you can open your car turnk, hood, and doors. And you can also customize your car with a neonlights at the bottom of it.
I used a mod to do all these things. So it also means that some commands can be scripted to do such things. Just like the following:

It lets you open your car's trunk.

To put a neonlights at the bottom of your car.

To turn on/off your car's engine.[/list][/list][/list]

Hello,

/opentrunk = role playable? If nothing else, it is only a nice visual addition.
/opendoor = Stand around a few vehicles, type in the command and you accidentally open all doors? Not needed.
/openhood = Well, same as /opentrunk command. Can be role played.
/neonlight = This could be sold at the garages. Nice addition.
/carengine [on/off] = /me?

Regards.

/opentrunk, & /openhood: Yes can be roleplayed, especially for mechanics, and other roleplay situations.
/opendoor: It should only work for the vehicle that you are driving.
/neonlights: Yeah, that's what I meant.
/carengine [on/off]: It's not what you think. When you turn off the engine, car lambs and engine's sound will be turned off too. So it will be completely turned off.

Just that you can do it with mods, trainers and such, doesn't mean that it's possible with scripts.
For example neonlights are just some lightbulbs attached to bottom of cars.

Same goes for opening doors, there needs to be function for squirrel to do those specific things, and far as i remember, there is no way to do those things atleast YET.
By the way, your car goes off if you keep F pressed when you get out from the vehicle ;)

When you turn on a function in the mod, it changes a value from 0 to 1.
So, we can use the mod's files to do such thing. But instead of change the value by pressing some buttons, commands will do it.

In mods/trainers if you press the '6 numpad' the function will be turned on, but on server, we can make it /openhood, so keys will be replaced with this command.
We turn trainers/mods into a useful and good thing.

But for that reason everyone should install the mod/trainer in order to be able to use these commands (if they are possible to be added of course). Am I right?
And as Pude told turning on/off engine is useless because the game already has this ability with holding F.

No. You don't have to download anything.
You can attach files to be downloaded for the first time that the user connects to this server.
So the needed files will be installed automatically when you connect to the server.

As far as i known that you can't install files on the clientside.
The clientside scripts can use only those resources when they are added to be downloaded.
For example you can display custom images, but you cant just install mods...

What I said about downloading mods at the clientsite (as you call it) was only an idea.

But it can still be scripted.

When you open any car's trunk, you will find that there's something designed inside the trunk, it's not designed for nothing, it's designed to be used.

So I am totally sure that there's something to do from what I said.

Even though it can be role played, visual additions are much better.

Speaking on command to be opening all car hoods/doors/trunks - set up permissions so people could do it only to their own (owned) cars. Other that it will not work. Or just a person HAS to be inside the car to perform this action.

RP it < See it

I agree with him on this ^^ It should be done. :)

The carengine command is useless because you can just hold F when exiting a car to turn the lights and the engine off...
The door opening is a good idea because you can just open all doors, then drive close to walls, rip the doors off and achieve a lightweight lookin car XD

/opendoor [Vehicle ID] [Door Number]
/closedoor [Vehicle ID] [Door Number]

/opentrunk [Vehicle ID]
/closetrunk [Vehicle ID]

/openhood [Vehicle ID]
/closehood [Vehicle ID]

/engine [off/on] [Vehicle ID]
/neontune                                  (At tune shop), then /savetune. Later, maybe make it toglable? Or to turn on together with headlights?

A little problem to find out car ID withouth getting in to the car. I ment If you are a limo driver, and sudenly you want to open the door for "the boss" when you been on foot for some time, then you need to quickly tap F to see the ID. But a good thing, it wount be abused by others, without carjacking you.

Actually it could be much more simple, just like in SA:MP:

/trunk (Opens/Closes trunk)
/hood (Opens/Closes hood)

/engine is already scripted.

And why [Vehicle ID] with /opendoor? I believe you should be inside the car while opening a door/hood/trunk. ;)

If you are surounded by vehicles? and being a limo-driver, you would like to RP open the doors with your hand.. not with your steering wheel.

I think thats the least of your problems. Players can only sit on back seat when the front passenger seat is occupied.

Vehicle component control and object manipulation.
I think it is possible that this can be done, but not with iv-mp & squirrel (with T3) you would have to write a "plug-in" for the server.
Maybe in T4 ?? or later ...

By posting why you think it's a good idea, and the advantages you see with it, assuming the ideas presented follow all server and community rules, and the Argonath Vision, as well as the rules for this board. :)

As my work to release a new version is almost done it's very important that players give me their suggestions, please guys help us developers out with your creativity.
Also I would like to thank my friend who made a general code improvement.

I can definitely make some codes for the fire department, it obviously won't be as good as the MTA-SA code but well I guess it's a heck of a start.
P.s: Maybe due to completely server re-make we might have semi-open beta testing, but again it's not a promise.
