Lately, I've been trying to get on Skype. It thinks it says "You are already signed in on this computer" but there's no Skype icon in the notification section of the task bar. There are, however, around 4 Skype.exe instances open, according to Task Manager. I tried end process, even as an admin, but no hope. I even did the TASKKILL command in CMD in admin, and nothing. I restarted and when I tell it to log in, it just says "Signing in". It hangs at that screen. I close it out, but the Skype.exe process stays open in Task Manager. Any ideas?
-I'm trying to save deleting the Skype AppData folder until it's really required.

in task manager, under processes Click the Button that says "Show Processes from all Users"(this will give you administrative access) then End the Skype Processes

I have tried that.. Many times. Shutting down is the only way. When I try signing in, it just says "Signing in". Since I leave my computer on, I left skype trying to sign in. 9 hours later, it's still signing in.

So I did the thing I did not want to do. I deleted the AppData files after backing them up. I currently am installing Skype again after deleting it with CCleaner. Let's hope this works. Oh yeah. I backed up my contacts to a VCF file, which is what Skype uses.

If you are running XP, Go to: c:\documents and settings\username\application data
If your running Windows 7/Vista Go to: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming
in there delete both the Skype and skypepm Folders
restart computer and run skype again
