Title: Sound card problems
Post by: Ness on June 02, 2011, 04:21:39 pm
A lot of games I've been playing (BC2 and APB:R) crash after about a half hour of playing, the display freezes and the sound keeps repeating, completely freezes the PC and I have to restart to fix the problem. I've read about it, and it seems to be an issue with my sound card. Are there any alternatives to getting a new sound card?

It's not too slow, just acts up when I'm running java applications.

well the three things i notice similar about our builds are Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, Same Motherboard manufacturer and Multiple HDD

there is some more but the other similarities are pretty much irrelevant

also i know the problem for me only arises on the Frostbite Engine (until i tested APB(which runs on the UT3 Engine) yesterday)

The games that ive had an issue on is: BFBC2, MOH2, BFHeroes and APB all of which im pretty sure run the Frostbite Engine(except APB).

Yeah, same games don't work. I remember someone said it had to do with ze sound acceleration, but yo u can't access that shit on Windows 7.

ive modified the sound acceleration settings, the CPU settings, reinstalled sound drivers, heaps of shit, ages ago.
all ive managed to do is get it stop Bluescreening, now it just crashes and freezes

if you can find any method of fixing it at all, i would love to find out. ive had this issue for the past year

Well if you don't mind playing without sound, I heard disabling the sound card works.
