Hey folks! Today i came into server browser and i was like :trust:.
"Argonath RPG: Mode: Uknown". WTF? I entered a server. Then it said "Jump switch disabled" and NOTHING happened, just kept Loading Network game and nothing else.
-
Same thing, wondering whats going on there.
-
OMG!!! When I enter it sais that too!!! :( :( :(
-
Now we can RP without DMers. :D
-
Well thats a mess that will take some time to clean it up, I guess.
-
Alright, hold up guys, let's not jump to conclusions. ;)
There was something that was being tested yesterday evening, and for whatever reasons caused that problem to occur.
Rest assured, it's being worked on so let's see the developments.
-
SOME FUCKING SERIOUS ROLEPLAY!
At least nobody whines about deathmatch now
-
The server was not hacked. It started to malfunction for some reason, and now no script will load on it. We've been working on it for some time now, so don't worry. We've been waiting for aXXo, but he seems to be busy administrating an event on a different server.
-
Damn ViceWars.
-
No matter what gamemode or compiler we use, the mode comes up as Unknown, so this is clearly an issue with the server itself.
Edit, 6/11 @ 10:32 PM (GMT)
Server continues to be unresponsive, but works on two different Linux servers and a Windows server.
Edit, 6/11 @ 10:39 PM (GMT)
After extensive tests and debugging, the issue isn't the server, but is likely the way the gamemode is transferred from our computers to the server corrupting the gamemode. I'd need Klaus or aXXo to help me confirm this, though.
Edit, 6/12 @ 12:56 AM (GMT)
Fixed. The panel upload was corrupting the upload.

Same thing happens with Paruni, just use FileZilla http://filezilla-project.org/ (http://filezilla-project.org/)

I have it, but I don't have the FTP details.
Well, this is gonna be problematic...

Pardon me, but isn't there a rule against Argonath Admins being admins on different non-Argonath servers?

I don't believe so.

I don't believe so.
I believe he is correct, actually.

Yes.. he is correct..
All of our admins are NOT allowed to work for other servers at all.

There you have it, straight from a Community Leader.

Interesting. Even if the event was only for 24 hours being run by his clan? In any case, I was also moderating the event until this happened.
-
How's such a rule reasonable? That sort of invades one's privacy.
-
By choosing to work as an Administrator for Argonath, you dedicate your time to work as one of the Server Administration. If you are an Admin on another server, the tendency is that you will tend to focus on one or another, leaving the other neglected. Not to mention, there is always the ever-present risk of security leaks.
As such, the rule against Admins working for other servers was instituted. No man can serve two masters, and I believe this rule has existed for quite a long time already.
-
Good job Storm, I knew you would fix it :D
I aint admin on any other servers.
I was only for 24 hours, coz i suggested a DM event for whole VCMP Community....

Well I think the Argonath Management recruits trustful enough admins, hence it's about 1 moderator/admin each 3-4 months. It's not like they pick flowers in a flower field.

Are you sure it's admins, MIB? I'm not trying to question you or anything. I've just personally heard it's Scripters that aren't allowed to do script work for other servers, but it didn't matter if they played on them. Just looking for clarification here. The rule might be different regarding who you ask as well. I've noticed sometimes confusion can befall between the administration over small details like that and people hear different things.

If you have problems with the rule that has existed since the beginning, leave the community.
I am pretty sure Klaus will follow this community rule to take care of his own admin/development team..

The rule does not apply only to the admins, but also to all players who are part of the development team..
Therefore, scripters are not allowed to work for other servers either..
Hosting an event is not really pertaining to this rule.. as it is not really "working for the particular servers";
it is more like "having fun". What I meant by "working" is that you take a part in developing other servers..

Alright, that makes sense then, thank you.
