Title: Email security.
Post by: [NP]Monte Montague on June 13, 2011, 10:10:36 am
Hi

These past few weeks I've noticed a flood of emails from famous people in my inbox.
The senders are people from Argonath.

The email only consists of 1 link and is sent to a good 100 or so other receipts.

This is a message to alert everyone you should not click any links anyone sends you which is also sent to hundreds of others.

The link when clicked will infect you and will send emails to everyone else automatically. The contents of the link could have very malicious...

So rather selfishly, don't click those links if you have me on your contact list...  I am getting tired of deleting the emails. Edit: and from now on rather selfishly I'll send you a reply to alert you if you are infected - as you can be sending emails without knowing it.

Any further help / tips from others are not welcome.
Move to appropriate section if this is not it.

In some cases the people seinding out the link may not know that they have a virus.
There for if you receive such a mail with a single link, reply to the sender and notify them of having a problem.

for security no.

I'll provide a print screen with the link / emails blurred.
It'd be enough.

Hmm what a responsible idea, if only it had came to me months ago, no worry's the last 50 of them will be back in a week so by then that responsible idea will be in effect.

The print screen I promised.

The first blurred line next to the image = The persons screen name
The second blurred paragraph near the picture and beyond = all the people the emails where sent to.

The single line below is the link that has the virus on it etc.

Yesterday, same shit happened with me. My MSN started sending malicious Links to my contacts, Not via email but via chat. I thought it was my PC as it might have a virus. But then, I got informed that its some MSN problem. Is that related to this?

I am aware that the email address I use with my Windows Live Passport does infact send these emails out, as Gandalf kindly made me aware of.

If anyone does happen to know how to solve this, then please let me know via email: [email protected] .

Thanks.

It can be yeah, no one has the exact details because Microsoft is too confidential to reveal their failures.
