Title: FRAPS Issue
Post by: Julio. on June 15, 2011, 12:32:36 am
Right, I've used Fraps to take a video, it has about 3 4GB chunks.

I tried importing the videos into Movie Maker, but the Quality is terrible, and thats before I've even published it, it automatically reduces the quality.

Is there any way I can either Improve the quality, or can someone post a free Movie Maker software that can also compact files like Windows Movie Maker can.

Does it only look terrible in movie maker or after you saved it too?

Press Save Movie and choose 1080P or something.

I had some old Serif software in my room which compacts hugely without visibly affecting the quality too badly...Joe is going to try that, but suggestions are still welcome in case it flops

Look in the settings, see if recording is set to Half-screen, it has to be at fullscreen to record high-res.

First check if your raw video footage is of decent quality. If it isn't, change your FRAPS settings.

WMM has a shitty preview quality and the saved video doesn't look best as well.

If you don't need any fancy video effects and just need the video to be cut and compressed, maybe try VirtualDub instead.

the new Windows movie maker is actually alot better than the old crappy one, i can find nothing wrong with it, but yes the previews are always crap
