Title: [Help our friend out]Trouble connecting
Post by: Broedet on June 15, 2011, 05:11:10 pm
Hi! Before I get shut down for not using the original Unban form I just wanted to say that this is no ordinary Unban Request.
I just tried to log on Argonath after a good 4 months break and according to SA:MP there are 0 players and 9999 ping on the server.

If I'm banned I'd like to know why, but I don't think that's the case.
I'm currently using a proxy to gain access to the forums (I can't even open the forums in my web browser if not) so if it causes any problems, I'm sorry.

I'm thinking maybe my ISP is blocked from ArgonathRPG because when a friend of mine tried to log on, he couldn't get on either and we use the same ISP.
My ISP's name is Telia.

So basically I just want to know what's happening and if you are able to enlighten me.

Thank you in advance,

Carolynn_White

Hello.

Please read the opening post made by Sauron in this topic: http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=71058.0 (http://www.argonathrpg.eu/forum/index.php?topic=71058.0)

I believe it may concern you.

In the case it does not concern you post back here.

A further edit i would like to confirm that i cannot find any known bans on your account.

I'm in Sweden using a Swedish ISP so I'm not sure if that post still concerns me

We can eliminate that possibility then. As i have said above there are no known bans on that name you have suggested either. For now i shall leave this with the management to help resolve as they may be aware of something that i am not.

Has there been any recent ISP blocks? A few months ago it worked just fine.

That i'm aware of in Sweden or that company, no. Just to eliminate this possibility as well, make sure that you both have the correct ip, 178.63.52.144:7777

I have the right IP. Even if I didn't have the right IP, it wouldn't explain why I can't get on the forums without using a proxy.

Are you using the SAMP 0.3c client?
Title: Re: [Help our friend out]Trouble connecting
Post by: Broedet on June 16, 2011, 06:55:39 pm
Yes I am. Freshly installed GTA:SA and SA:MP 0.3c and the server is listed as (retrieving info) 178.63.52.144:7777

I had another friend try logging on to Argonath from his place with the same ISP and it worked for him so I really don't know what's going on..

Sorry if this seems stupid but - did you try finding Argonath RPG from the Internet tab instead of adding it to favourites?

I've tried looking for the server in the Internet tab aswell. I can't find it.

If you use the 0.3c setup but the setup is more than 3 months old, would you mind using the samp mirror listed on the following address to download the setup once again and installing it? :)

http://www.sa-mp.com/download.php (http://www.sa-mp.com/download.php)

Click on the second mirror.

I'll try that. I'll post again soon to let you know if there's progress.

Getting the SA:MP install from the link above doesn't change anything. Server still not responding when I try to log on and I still can't find the server in the Internet tab.

Hm, are you able to see other servers there?
Title: Re: [Help our friend out]Trouble connecting
Post by: Broedet on June 16, 2011, 07:30:42 pm
Yes, I'm able to see a lot of servers just not Argonath.

This is truly odd and I am sorry for not being able to help you further on this. I checked on google and the only reason I found for a particular server not showing up is because you may be using the wrong version of the client. In this case, you have confirmed that the download from the link specified did not help out.
Therefore, I will move this post to the SA:MP general section, which is frequently visited by lots of players, who will also be able to be post in this thread. Hopefully we can get you ingame before midnight ;)

A router restart, has this been tried?

I connect from Sweden.. No problems at all for me. Try restarting your Router or something. Or just shut it down for some mins, Then turn it on again, That would help you. If not then i can't do anything.

I tried connecting via my modem so the router isn't the problem. The only thing I can think of is a ISP block.

I've tried setting up a VPN using proXPN which gives me a new IP and with it I can open argonathrpg.eu and the forums but I can't connect to the server like before. This made me think that there must be something with my OS. I'm running on Windows 7 and every update is up to date.

I was wondering if anyone here uses Windows 7 and has it fully updated? Any response regarding this could help me understand what the problem might be.

I am from Sweden and I have Telia Sonera, I do not have any problems at all with the connecting to the Argonath servers at all. I have never had that problem.

There may be some possibilites why you can't connect to the server.

It may be your router who blocks the ArgonathRPG's server for some strange reason (if you now have a router). Maybe you need to open a port in it to connect to the server.
Can you ping the server? I guess you can't but if you can ping and not connect it's some kind of bug. You mentioned that you could find other server(s), can you connect to them?
Have you tried to connect to the other Argonath servers like the stunt server? Or even Paruni? The sister server of Argonath.

Hi,

I have checked andthere is a routeblock on your route. The cause is a group of people who entered the accounts of developers with stolen passwords.
As a result, we are not likely to release this route.
If you can get Telia to give you a long lease time (meaning your IP will not change unless you were disconnected for 6 hours or more) we can make an exception.

Telia should give you a static IP. I'm having Telia and living in sweden aswell so i got route blocked also when i did get a new router. When getting that new router, it was the only time my IP actually changed route, so if you got a dynamic IP, i suggest you to call Telia to get further help with getting a static IP.

Guess the problem is solved now, topic lock?

I understand that lifting the routeblock compromizes the security of the server so I won't make a big fuzz about it.

I will call my ISP tomorrow and ask them about a static IP although I've been looking at the ISP's website and
apparently if I don't have a Fiber connection I won't be getting a static IP anytime soon.

I'll ask them about the long lease but I really doubt they would give me that either.

I'm glad you all tried to help me and I appreciate the time and effort you put into it but if I have to get a new connection
to play on a specific server I probably won't go through the trouble.

Please keep the topic open and I will post any update I get after talking to my ISP.

I've talked to my ISP and they confirmed that there is no service that will give me a static IP. However, apparantly, even if I have a dynamic IP they try to give me the same IP as before when they refresh the IP which is once per month. I've been sitting with the same IP for 3 months now so maybe we could at least try to make that exception for my IP?

Bump! Just in case the post merge above didn't update the topic.
