Hey there.
I am not quite sure where I should post this, but I would like to ask for the opinion of people about this subject which is "keybinds".
I understand keybinds are disallowed to avoid spam, but in my opinion it can be handy for roleplay purposes.
Sometimes I roleplay with friends on another server (like once in a week) and there I can use keybinds and create my own based roleplay things such as on my police duty.
Here I can just do:
I am on a police call and someone does not make room:
t/m ** You hear sirens and see flashing lights in your mirror**
t/m Move towards the side of the road and make room!
To put on and off my seatbelt.
t/me takes his seatbelt and takes it off
Or when you are on foot:
t/s This is the Dillimore Police! Freeze and put your hands in the air RIGHT NOW!
I hope in the future this will be allowed as it's really usefull and would make me happy that I can use it!

No. Go to the other server.
Role-play is supposed to be creative interaction, not repeating same lines of text n times.
-
Doesn't this belong in SA:MP Ideas?
-
I dont see whats wrong with allowing keybinds, doesn't really give an advantage.. even if it does its a very very small advantage..
-
I like it as an idea, however I can't really say that I support this.
Reason is, we have many commands (and atm I am sleepy so I can't remember all).. and I believe there will be a big possibility that somebody will abuse one of the commands if the keybinds get ever allowed.. any command ...
-
I was actually about to do a topic like this myself. What about adjusting the rule a little? Sure, it should be banable if the word you typed in your keybind's making you achieve an advantage in whatsoever or causing spam, but if it's used for its reason; which means for role-play scenes where, just as Nexxt wrote, in police pursuits, in criminal pursuits, in describing your character-appearences through /em - I cannot see anything bad with it.
Role-play is supposed to be creative interaction, not repeating same lines of text n times.
It's not that stereotyped just because you allow keybinds, believe me. Yes, abusing it should be punishable to the max.
But to judge by my own experience it can also be considered as a good thing in various of scenarios.

No. Keybinds give an unfair advantage over users that can't/don't use them. That's like asking Argo to force players to install modded .img files. It goes against the Argonath Vision and it will never happen. It was even stated in a topic by RON on ARPD forums that it will never be allowed.

I support this. This could be helpful when sending large amounts of drugs but then again you would be kicked for spamming but it would speed up the process

Then what's the point of roleplaying?
-
Bro i mean when your sending the drugs you could use a keybind for "/give id weed 50" because if your sending 1000g it takes forever.

There's a reason why it's limited like that.

That'd be one of the reasons why it should not be allowed, to be honest.

Just press the arrow key pointing up....
this way you get up the last thing you wrote and in this case it should be /give id weed 50

That's spamming, and it's not allowed. There is a reason why they put such a low limit on drugs...

Oh and welcome back to our Community, Mister Argonath Vision.

I'm more in favour for a system similar to weapons trading to be introduced for the purpose of trading large amounts of drugs. Keybinds aren't the correct way to solve that problem.
-
I think they should be allowed if you want to describe your character in the 3rd person using /em or something. As far as the whole "/give weed id 50" thing goes, the entire drug system needs to be reworked.

hahahaha

Typical trolls in the topic, as usual.
As for keybinds... keybinds are external features that give advantage to someone using them. If keybinds will be allowed for roleplaying, then you might as well petition airbreak hacks to be allowed so you can roleplay "superman" or "futuristic car".

To answer your question Mr. Caffiene, they put a low limit on them because they didn't want people spamming the command, flooding the server with drugs so that they were worthless to RP with since then everyone would have them. The ONLY reason why they didn't limit the number of TIMES you could use the command is because of large-scale RP's and RP's where someone roleplays a drug lord. I'm amazed you didn't know that. Oh well, can't expect everyone to know how the rules work for RP's.
P.S. Thank you.
I think they should be allowed if you want to describe your character in the 3rd person using /em or something.
You can already do that. Keybinds aren't needed for that.

Learn to rhetorical question. And no that's the wrong answer.
Oh and about your nickname you gave me,on the end of the week, its the Sugar that gets drown into Coffee. Think about it, alright?
(NOTE:This one is rhetorical too, so you wont waste your time making a fool out of yourself again.)

-Post that wasn't worth it.
No one cares.

Ignoring all the posts before me as they seem to be full of Testosterone Filled Arguments.
We have /m1 etc, so why cannot we use keybinds for something like that?
I'm a DPD Sr. Officer, and sometimes I want to say something awesome through the Car Megaphone, but then I cannot as I have to drive AND type a huge line.

What kind of unfair advantage?
Keybinds should be allowed

What kind of unfair advantage?
It can be used for like /growweed or other commands that might give the player an advantage. But then it should be bannable.

If you feel my statements are flaming, you may use the "Report to moderator" link on the side. Otherwise give up on trying to troll me. Ain't happenin' ;)
As for the topic, sorry guys, but as said by RON back in 2007, it's considered a "hack" by the server owners and/or something that gives an unfair advantage. Ain't gonna happen.

How can keybinds be abused ?
t/s STOP or I shoot
pew pew....
We do not allow keybinds for such reasons.
