Title: Hard drive gone mad, need help.
Post by: R.Rivens on June 18, 2011, 10:56:01 pm
So yea, here's the thing...

I have two hard drives - C and D. For an unknown reason today everything in D/ProgramFiles simply dissapierd except "DaemonTools" and "wot eu" (World of Tanks game). I haven't deleted anything. The taken memory in D drive is still as it was (134 Gb free out of 416 GB). So, my memory is taken, I know that those files are still there, I just can't access them nor even see them. I downloaded a program called "Recover My Files". Scanned the D drive with it and truly, it found all those files I wasn't able to see but unfortunetly I wasn't able to actually recover/save them since the program asked for the license. I was trying to find a keygen/crack for it but got nothing since I had downloaded the newest version.

And yea, any ideas how to get those "ghost files" back?

P.S. I can still use D drive, save stuff there etcetera.

Go to Control Panel
Appearance and personalization
Folder Options
Then Click the View tab
Tick all the show boxes and Untick all the hide boxes
Make sure you change it to show hidden files, folders and drives.

after this, can you still not see everything in D: Drive?

If so, check the disk quality, you could be losing files because the disk is corrupted

Did it, still nothing. And how can I be losing files if taken memory doesn't changes...

It could be a virus actually, the only thing i can say that you should re-install your computer, or otherwise reset it to a date before. It should work, i had this problem before to, it was becuase of a virus.

I don't want to reinstall whole thing and resetting to a date doesn't work because I didn't make a backup when everything was fine.
