System regarding ammunations etc...
First, creating two types of ammunations, one are going to be in town centre etc..and you will need License to buy weapons inside(License would be gotten by paying some ammount of money), if you dont have license you wont be able to buy weapons...now for those who dont have license there would be small tight places in less populated areas where peoples without License can buy weapons.
Now diffrence betwen ammunations where you dont need license and where u need is: There where u need license, buying is fully legal, there where u dont need license buying is completely ILLEGAL and can be suspected by officers, in Illegal ammunations weapons would be cheaper(not that cheaper).
-
I like it, BUT, new players will constant moan ''wtf am I being suspected for buying weapons ?!'' or ''Why do I need a f*cking license to buy a weapon?!'' etc.
I like it, and if you ask me about the price on the license, it should be 8000-12000$.
-
I think it would be confusing for new players. Nevertheless i support it. If we are talking about ammunation already then it should be restricted for cops. Cops should only use their duty weapons and nothing else.
-
I say that we have to do something like CMB, but not for passports, for having weapons (Weapons license) just like you said.
If a guy passes the test, he will get his license, and then he will be able to buy weapons.

Too much complicating.

Too much complicating.
1. When are you allowed to use guns
2. Are you allowed to shot without a proper reason?
etc etc, just questions and maybe the CMB staff can take care of it?

You all fail in thinking the idea from the position of a totally new player.
He or she may not find it as simple as you do...

Good, then the DM going away

There are always players who can explain it, its not that complicated... :cop:

Hello,
First of all, do you get automatically suspected once you purchase in the illegal shops? If not, how will an officer recognize where the weapon was purchased?
Let me guess, you plan to input a bunch of commands like /Showlicense or something similar?
Do you want a license to even enter a vehicle?
Do you want a license to walk around?
Do you want a license to pick your nose?
See where I'm going at?
Death matching will not go away, it will be reduced. There is a difference.
The tasks you've named CMB to regulate, are, in fact, the LCPD's tasks.
Regards.

Yes please.

Noo there won't be auto suspect, /showlicense and such, it would make just complications, random officers asking for license etc...
What I am saying is that you will need license to buy in LEGAL shops, if you dont have, head to the illegal ammunation, nothing else would be done with license.
And NO, there is no autosuspect, officers would suspect those ones who buy there. How will they know? Well, lets make some message (for example: Player(1) has bought XX bullets of deagle) , message would be displayed to everybody in VERY small radius, so small that u will have to be next to person who is buying, no way to hear it outside or such, thats how we can avoid cops camping, If u have IQ over 10 you wont buy weapons while cops are infront your nose and waiting for message. If i was unclear about something, just ask.

This sounds like a low budget production horror movie from the 2000. Officers get alarmed by the "blood", senses the prey, kills.

Hey, it's the 21st century, why not?
I like the idea, but it will not work very well. Even with the close range message, there will be camping. If the radius is so small that you can only "hear" it inside, then there's no use for the message either. Who's going to buy an illegal weapon when there is a cop in front of you, like you said yourself.

Cop will leave soon or later, or u leave and come back to the illegal ammunation later and see did cop leave, and point of message is to avoid abuse, i mean If there would be no message at all any cop would go and suspect because they just stand there. So with message its like this: Cop didnt see message = Nobody bought weapons Illegaly.
And I will have to admit that its not gona be that easy to avoid cops camping but things like I mentioned above and making bigger number of illegal ammunations that are (as i said in 1st post) hidden, small, tight w/e that would make alot of those harder to find, take drug dealers for example...I just found one weed dealer and I heard its like 9 of them on map...and another thing that might help in solving camping is making ammunations far from populated areas....alot of cops are lazy to go outside populated areas because they get used to sitting and waiting for some crimes...since its populated area.

Hmm, I wonder when IV:MP will actually make a system in which you keep your weapons after a server/client crash etc...

/unsupport
As a criminal, I don't think I want a license for my guns..that's just plain stupid and complicated for no reason. I'm a normal player not some SpecOps shitbird that can stealth kill people even with his hands. What I DO want is weapons to save after game quit/crash. The police have TOO much support already..give something to criminals too...

I'd love to give the general criminal a lesson in roleplaying. I, personally, have never seen a suspect surrender!
-
I read the whole topic and actually I thought before for such system with legal and illegal weapons but never found the balance between the two sides - cops and criminals. I can support that but only partly because there still things that should be developed. Miha you said it yourself. It will be hard to avoid and control the wave of potential abusers (generally mean free cops). I will use one word that we use in my country - the cops will camp on the "feeding trough".
-

I have done that twice >_>
and so what, the point is cops have plenty of support and criminals don't have anything no license thank you.
-
Can't wait for 15 cops to camp in each illegal store :)
the weapon license idea never worked well, and what will be the point to get gun license and buy from 'legal' shops? Instead why not make regular gun shops, gun license can stay but it can be revoked, if cops see someone with a gun they should check his license. You can still buy without gun license.
If we make 'legal' gun stores and 'illegal' most of the legal buyers will be cops off-duty, who are afraid of someone reporting them to LCPD for 'crime' (buying illegal guns)
@Thomas
You are sarcastic, right? Do you expect every criminal to be a pussy and surrender after each crime is done by him?

Actually, when there's 7 police cars on your tail and your car lands on it's roof, and the nearest car is a 10minute walk... Yeah, I do expect them to surrender

haha. but there arnt that many police cars...Ghost and me could count up for the 7 cars cause we are just that good :P

It kinda depends. If there are 4 criminals in one car and 7 police cars after them and they crash into a wall, coming out and opening fire from AK-47s on the police cars seems to be the coolest...
But yeah, when it's like one criminal it is kinda lame not to surrender indeed, but what amazes me is that you compared surrendering to roleplay. Sure it is roleplay action, but if not the fact you can't type a single /me command without cops gunning you down (it's a gunfight/carchase, so you don't waste time writing) there would be more roleplay in escaping aspect as well. Use your imagination, then you might understand how criminal notices the world, especially when escaping cops..something every cop should. And if by the not-surrendering thingy you meant lack of RP cause of realism, then I have no words - this is argonath, mate, not another server where you get banned for not roleplaying limping after getting shot, when the admin doesn't do it himself...heh.
-
Those license will not be implanted. But we will implant that your weapons got saved after relog, waiting there is a iv:mp to get player weapons. I'm not sure yet in what version. Weapons will be sold with a price, currently its free because of the saving issue.
-
Such a weapon license is giving more experienced players an advantage over new ones.
Besides, if weapons are cheaper in illegal ammunations AND you have to buy an expensive license, who would ever visit them ?
Remember this is GTA, not boy scouts where you collect badges and pieces of paper...
-
But Weapons are illegal in Liberty City... a License would not make sense as we only have illegal shops.. ^^

GTA where weapons are illegal.... are you planning to make talking illegal as well ?
-
Originally all gun shops in GTA IV are illegel not like the old school Ammu-Nation.

I never got suspected for visitng a gun shop in GTA:IV.... besides that GTA:IV lost the plot traditions from the old style too much...
-
hmm We cant have an Illegal weapon store with an Marker on Map. :) then the location should be hidden and players should find the place out by themselfs. :)
-
Last I checked, doesn't Argo's Constitution conflict with you guys making weapons illegal? It seems that would also make police corrupt because they would be breaking the law by having weapons as well! ;)
