Title: [To be fixed] /carlock
Post by: hAWK. on July 08, 2011, 10:13:26 pm
I think that /carlock should be saved after exit, relog or crash. It is annoying when you are on the other side of the city and someone is playing with your vehicles without your permission.

I've been always talking about this.

Ask the guy who's driving it if you can have it back. If he doesn't want to give it, call the cops!

What happens if you are the cop like me? I support the /carlock idea strongly.

Here is the answer to your problem, what's wrong if someone else is driving your car?

True that, but you can simply ask in the mainchat if someone has and if he can return it to you. Or else you call the cops on him

It's not that easy as you think.
Most of those don't even bother to look at the chat, and they want to keep the car with him. And the result? You have to relog..

Relogging when someone have your car is not allowed, it's clear script abuse and punishable with an insta ban, reminder ;).

It's a lame move also. If you really want your so bad, buy some guns and kill him.

Calling the cops ? Please.... They RARELY react on 911 calls. I dont really care if they use my vehicles but i still support this. I think its fair towards car owners.

May I also suggest that something is done to remove the bug that you can still drive the car if you click enter when you are the right distance away?  ;)

Two reasons:
  1) A location is never provided, so how should they know where to go?
  2) The current /call 911 system isn't working. It only allow for three words before the sentence gets cut off.

So you type /call 911...then you type stolen vehicle... 2 words...

Wow, thanks for clearing this out. I didnt know that the sentence is cut off. That explains a lot. Btw, i always provide location, but its in the end of the sentence so i guess its cut off.

Agree! And its hard to ask the person to get your car back, if they do not know how to speak english :(

In addition, you dont always know where the car thief is gone... maybe you were talking or rping, and didnt have the time to look who was the thief.
And as it was said, cops rarely pay attention on /call 911.

I really support the /carlock saving idea.

Usually because it's just "A man came and" and the rest is cut off :D

Just a bit off topic.
You can simply PM to a cop you know until the system is fixed.

It is not needed. If you know it - tell us, if don't make a short description of the car.

Hi Fellas,

Carlocking is now activated as soon as you enter the server.

It was felt that if people want to use your car they could pm you instead ?

As this is still a hot topic and people are unsure whether or not this is a good idea to have the cars locked, I'd be happy to hear your points about this.

Regards, DellStorm

The cars should stay locked. When i come on i am usually chasing a suspect. I dont have time to lock all my cars. And when i do come back to lock them...Most of my cars are gone... So long story short...The cars should stay locked when you rejoin the server.

I have to agree with you there. If you locked them so others don't use them, chances are you wouldn't someone entering them when you come back from a crash or to play again later. If you do, you can simply go unlock them. Same thing for leaving them unlocked before leaving. If you come back, they should stay unlocked. I'm not sure why they would reset. I wish SA:MP would fix this as well.

I think that is good idea and i have stated it previously too. People are buying a car for themselves not for someone else. And like pointed out, when someone wants to use ur car they can just ask. Now maybe people stop hiding their cars in alleys and will park them on the street instead.
