Title: Harry Potter, Ends.
Post by: Leroy on July 15, 2011, 03:49:25 pm
Yes you knew this was coming.

Well the entire series of films has ended, along with the books. It'd be nice to see what others opinions were, be honest but stay appropriate.

I for one, think the story was good, but at times ruined by the film - Not up to par with the books. Also I think the second part of the last movie, which should of been the best, was not, and was disappointing as the Part 1 was terrific in my opinion.

Though I'm not a crazed fan, but I can say it'll be 'weird' not seeing more of Harry Potter, as we heard from it about every year for the last decade or so.

i've kinda grew up with HP, as it the books that made me start reading for serious when i was 10 or so years, i think the first 4, i ended up reading 4-5 times tro so yeah this is an ending of a era.

It's a shame that it's finished...I don't think I am ever going to grow out of HP! Amazing books, good films...though at times the films don't quite show what you expect of the books.

Won't change my life in nothing. Saw only 1 movie in the whole serie and i really disliked it, it's not my type of movie.

Harry Potter Saga doesn't look like an actual story all together. Look at Lord of the Rings, all movies have particulary the same atmosphere and setting, which brings you directly in the mood of the movie you expect from the movie you wanted to see.
However, with Harry Potter...

Try to compare the first and last movie with each other. Whilst the first is more of a child movie, the last one is action-fighting-shouting-fighting-action-ending. It's not what I was expecting from an HP movie and there is the part where I lost the atmosphere from HP over the last movies.
The concept works out great on a book, because there you set your own setting, a movie does it for you and for that they partly failed, to my idea.

I had tears in my eyes at the end of the movie. I had Harry Potter in most of my life and now it ended.
And those who disrespected the Harry Potter series here; BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS

If the part 2 is dissapointing in comparison with part 1 then I am already scared... as part 1 was actually one of the worse in the series.
The books offer a lot more in-depth anyway, and without reading the books you really miss a lot of the story and background.

I preferred the books more than the movies, however the movies were kinda good aswell. I bet in 10 years or so someone will buy the rights and make a comeback of Harry Potter

I felt that the first 3 books were fantastic.

The 4th book had a shit first chapter, then got good.

the later books were good, but they were, in Janeks words, 'Missing something'

Don't get me wrong - I loved the books. Even if I would have to re-read a chapter because I didn't get something xD. Something in the films wasn't right though.

I've kinda grown up with HP and it's books, what got me to start reading them, was becuse it was hard for me back then, and they literally learned me to read proberly as i was way behind, my mates told i could not read that, i just ignored them, i ended up reading 1-4 5-6 times before 5 came out. I liked the movie, made memories fly from the past years.

I liked more part 3...

As for all HP movies - as Russians say - started healthy ended deadly...

From movie 4 it just showed the low quality of storyline and movies as well...
The latest 3 parts was accent only on special effects (which is why movies are dark) but not on story like...
The part 7.1 I honestly slept over...

For me first three parts had some spirit of story... Which I did not find in latest parts...

And this crap in book story which with every year was looking more like a soap opera... Either writer got orders from movie directors or already had no idea what to write about...

The lack of quality I do connect with the time the story should be written in and movie should be done... That is why ionstead of normal magic quest we did read 2 years about whos bad soul is under the bed...

I hate how they failed to make the part about the truth of snape completely messed up, It was quite confusing in the books, in the movies they fucked it up pretty good..Also about
LUPIN'S SON WHERE THE FUCK IS HE ?

Other than that it was quite good.

Movies to expect:

Hangover 2
Harry Potter 7 Part 2

The Hobbit

Same here. I grew up with the magic of the Harry Potter books, now the movies disappoint me a little. Sadly.. Maybe I will read some books again, for the 5th time or something.

Btw, the last book is the best book in the serie.

I liked the books 1-5

Didnt like the movies much.
Maybe because you cant cover a HP book in a 2 hour movie.
They should have made extended editions like LoTR....6 hour movies are good :)

Though I heard somewhere a lot ago, that originally JK Rowling killed harry in last book, she even disclosed it in public.
But fans didnt appreciate that kind of ending, so she changed it later.
I think that's why I didnt like the story after 5th part.
It wasent very original.

I've read all the books, and watched all the movies with the exception of the last one which I intend to see very soon, just haven't had the chance.

The books were brilliant - and that's quite a lot coming from someone who doesn't particularly like reading much. The films were not too bad, although after the third one (in my opinion the best one) they started to go downhill.

Part 1 of the finale was obviously a set up for the second part, so I wasn't expecting too much. And as I suspected, it was pretty slow paced and boring.

I'm looking forward to the last part though. All I've heard from people is that it's brilliant.
