Title: Why has /pm become /ad now? and what can be done?
Post by: Teddy on July 16, 2011, 04:37:15 am: Its becoming more frequent in-game where people send adverts via /pm. Its kinda annoying, I know /setpm off and w.e but I actually need to use /pm sometimes and having to shut it off is getting old. Is it reportable? or What should/can be done?

Ads range from drugs (buying/selling), Casinos, Do you wanna buy my house/business etc.

Well some could argue it's as lame as /ad being $500 in the first place.
But ya, /sms is better =)

current /ad system is discrimination to people who choose different role-plays... A farmer cannot afford to do /ad always. I did one /ad today and found my self advertising in /sms as the person asked what I was selling. So I did, if this makes me cheap because I want to just role-play then so be it. I guess other people who go around doing /em [SIGN] Selling DONUTS, Hot Dogs, Potatoes etc are also sad and cheap...

There is a discussion about /ad in ideas, maybe contribute to it :).

For? "Advertising in my PM"? That doesn't really sound like much of a rulebreak to me.

I just ignore them, they're not that frequent really. Only if they begin flooding my PM with it would I actually report it, or just /setpm off temporarily for a minute.

But if I get some "Wanna buy weed?" I do react normal cos its normal to ask people for roleplay... Otherwise we should punish and disable everyone on server who suggested you a gun or a drugs...

But for sure you guys, who are annoyed with this kind of things, cannot be admins, cos admins do get a real FLOOD of PMs... You cannot handle 1-3 PMs in 30 minutes? You cannot handle admins work...

Well, I can be patient with most things, but getting one guy pming HEROIN??? And I say no... then he pms me 5 minutes later, I'm like "Did you just go through the entire tab list?"

I like the medics who offer 'heal' in /pm, because they look so innocent and new on the server : D

Once I suggested to a new player to use /ad, /sms, /call, /L instead of /PM, he understood everything and said "Ok". 10 seconds passed and offered in /pm one of my FBI cadets.

I just suppose you cannot handle a little integration with others on multiplayer...
