Title: Bannable roleplay character?
Post by: Skan on July 27, 2011, 12:40:39 pm
I'm just curious, since this is a RP server where we can choose what we want to be. At times, I would like to become a corrupt cop. Is this a bannable role? I mean, I MIGHT  ''abuse'' the command but I dont want to get copbanned/banned. Personally, I think this is quite good but people will moan. I just want to know from developers if this is allowed. That is all.

If you play corrupt, as in, you like bribery, bend or break the laws (not server rules), it's perfectly ok. Only if you get caught higher ranked cops (hopefully admins won't even bother, if there would be no breaking of server rules ofc), you might get a copban.

But if you have created an interesting role, it's probably going to only be symbolic, like 1 hour or 1 day maybe (at least that's what I would give).

If you want to RP a corrupt cop then I seriously advise do NOT use /su under any circumstances, as this could count as script abuse... putting a player in position where they are forced to give you money - you will probably end up with cop ban from SAPD.
Otherwise, you are free to RP corrupt cop as long as you make the RP clear, and I would advise you keep it fun/funny.

As far as "bannable RP characters" - you are not allowed to RP anything that contradicts the server rules. I.e. no RPing homocidal maniacs, mass murderers, terrorists (to an extent) or anything that will cause rulebreaks.

Corrupt cop can be only pure roleplay (without script usage), otherwise there is no sense in script rules if everyone will excuse their commands abuse by being corrupted...

Actually, if you really want to play a corrupt cop you should limit yourself and have a good feeling, with whom it is better to roleplay... Cos not every player will agree on that (not forced rp pls)...

If you will be noticed by other players who are not involved in your roleplay and who will report you to the ARPD officers they have all rights to remove you from ARPD (cop ban), which is logically correct...

So for that you really need to have a good feeling with whom you can roleplay a corrupt cop and to of cos to hide it from ARPD guys...

Coming on server "wtf I do roleplay a corrupt cop" in public chat will just lead to cop ban for sure...

Just like when you play a criminal or a normal cop, you should first think of what a corrupt cop would do.

If you can think only of things like growing weed on duty or shooting at fellow cops to help criminals, then you need some imagination before even attempting to be a corrupt cop.

A corrupt officer, the one who maybe accepts money from the mafias and give them valuable information, like where the cops patrol. Where their training might be, locations of high ranked targets for their operations.

For example a kidnapping of the SAPD Chief Leroy, it's many possibilites to roleplay as a corrupt cop. But beware of the copban though.  Maybe in a roleplay matter, where the ARPD keep their evidence, like drugs, launded money, weapon storage.

etc etc etc.

This is one of my favourate roleplay characters (Although I don't roleplay it I do like it), roleplaying a corrupt cop isnt bad, but abusing scripts as a corrupt cop is of course like said above...

Something I advise, if you plan on doing something or saying something to the player that may be uncomfortable, possibly insulting, or perhaps punishable, you may want to PM them. Things like these involve rape, RPing emotionally scarring someone (something I like to do personally), or going all-out in flame.

If it's insulting, even probably, then better don't say it at all.

NO FLAMING. No exceptions.

No copban, lt+ can suspect other cops

I been playing corrupted before, if I'm not wrong, I've been caught several time but my good lawyer always got me out of it. It's pretty fun actually, not all the time but once you find the people it's. Now, I retired from duty and living my dream as a nationalist hippie in the woods, hey hoop merry fridge!

It is up to high ranks and admins to decide - a cop ban or suspect... Do not make own rules...

I once made an entire kidnap scene as a cop. I never got copbanned because it was pure roleplay. ^_^

For all its stigma, ironically an actual corrupt cop is one of those roles that must thrive on imagination alone.

There are many ways to be corrupt using your imagination, and it does not necessarily have to be leaking top secret info to criminals or mafiosi. For instance, you can blackmail a citizen by giving him a bad rap with the mafia if he does not steal your Captain's next shipment of donuts.

I remember Cane and I were the most corrupt cops on the server. One day we got caught in the act of doing something by the FBI and they sent an APB out on us. We went on a 3-hour long pursuit across San Andreas with the entire SAPD on our asses. I ended up killing CBFasi, and he let us off scot-free.

Steps to becoming a corrupt cop

1. Don't let the higher ranked officers find out
2. Don't abuse the /su command
3. DO have an aggressive, but not DMing character
3. DO Contact jcstodds for advice
