The Setup

Pictures as promised (http://photobucket.com/mushyAGR)

From the computer I take the front speaker to the desk with the Decks in SAM on cue mode only.
This enables me to mix the tracks with the mic on the desk before they go to the encoders.
I then take the record out from the desk to the line in on the pc and set it as the input device.
The mic function in SAM is therefore always on and I manually mix the mic and music levels.
(Without my closed headphones, as you heard tonight, the levels were very far out most of the time.)

However because the pc has a decent processor but only a gig of ram, I was experiencing lots of jumping and clipping in the SAM playback and so resorted to Windows media instead, itunes is too cluncky for me.

The main advantage of this setup is the ability to swiftly mix music from alternative sources. As you may have heard, there was a lot of tracks requested that I did not have and had never heard of. With this setup it was ridiculously easy for me to play youtube soundtracks straight into the air mix, without use of the slow and laborious youtube downloader to find the songs that listeners want to hear.

Keep checking this topic to find out more about the show.

Thanks for paying attention, keep listening and I'll speak to you soon.
