Title: DotA 2

Last October, shortly after the release of DotA v6.63, IceFrog announced that he would be leading a team at Valve Corporation as a lead developer, which came after the company contacted him and offered to show him their studio in Bellevue, Washington. Interest in such a project was amplified by Riot Games' League of Legends and S2 Games' Heroes of Newerth, leading many to show interest in a first-party adaptation on another platform by the current developer. After a year of interest, (along with some discontent Riot Games), Valve has officially announced their new project that IceFrog has been leading- Dota 2.

This title is one of three projects that Valve will have announced within the next eleven months. It is unknown when the testing phase may begin, but indications point to a much sooner phase than what a Blizzard Entertainment title may receive, judging by Valve's difference in process. DotA 2 has an approximate 2011 release date.

Well I played DotA quite a lot a few years back and I must say, DotA 2 is less than I expected (thoughts based on the championship). It doesn't seem to have taken advantage of the fact that it's not limited to Warcraft 3s engine anymore. It is just a revamped original DotA, which is basically another Heroes of Newerth. Also, the UI or HUD or w/e you'd like to call it, is freaking horrible, almost as bad as LoL's UI in it's early days. I really hope that they will make it a little more minimal and more appealing and I'd really like to see some more different mechanics introduced to the game so it's more distinguishable and unique.

Dota 2 will be the first full game to benefit from the new and upcoming Steam download System.

I hope they'll fix those stuff that people don't like in the main release :) It's expected in Q4 2011 or Q1 2012.

Well those are only my thoughts, I'm sure there is a lot of people who love that the sequel stays loyal to the original and keeps the already developed balancing and mechanics.

Yeah, it's almost as youthful as the World of Tanks for 3 year old's...
