Running Windows 7

So i was on Skype with some people then suddenly my mic just stopped sending my voice through the program to the rest of my call. I closed Skype and went to check my Microphone in the Audio Tab of my system trey. It was detecting 2 - 3 little bars of sound on the volume levels as apposed to the 25 or so bars it normally shows when i talk into it. I have found that if i blow into the mic, tap it or shout very loud the mic detects my voice and the bar goes up as normal, but when i listen to the playback, all i get is a very muffled sound that is not very load and my voice sounds like im talking from behind a pillow.

I tried the mic built in to my laptop and it seems to work fine, the quality is shit on that mic since i bought it so its not a very good comparison. My headset works fine on other computers in my house so i cant seem to figure the problem out.

My headset is a..

Could be that the jack in your laptop got loose and needs some soldering.

Put the end of a vacuum to the points to clear any dust, if that fails update your laptops audio drivers.

Check any form of "auto-volume" control on skype and sound drivers.
