Title: [IDEA] Remove the Post-Merge
Post by: Dan_The_Noob on September 07, 2011, 05:46:03 am
the post merge is great... except for 1 problem

we are told to use the attachement feature for uploading pictures
but the 5 picture limit applies to all merged posts until another person posts

i only got to post 5 of my pictures from an event today

I wish you could post again after your last post after one day, and not two. This way, you can bump your topics faster.

The security advantage outweighs the disadvantage. Post Merge saves us the trouble of dealing with multiple repeated posts made by one person.

As for photos, use a photo hosting site like Photobucket. In case something goes wrong with the forum, you still have another source on the web to link your pictures from.

Aragorn asks us to use the forum picture posting... i try to set an example and the forum says no lol :D
the other option would be to allow for 5 per post (even with merges)

Why would you want to upload more than 5 pics ?

I never really saw use in the attachment system anyways. Just offload your sites to something like imgur (http://www.imgur.com) or Tinypic (http://www.tinypic.com). It saves on server bandwidth anyways, and lets you embed them in your posts instead of having to click to see each one.

Aragorn was tryna encourage people to use the attachment feature for compression etc to save people having to load a mile long page of pictures...

i tried to help by using the feature, and i noticed 2 things..

1. i couldnt upload half my pictures
2. noone looked at or commented on the pictures :\

Possible fixes
1. allow bigger uploads (up to 5mb maybe?)
2. some kind of auto-change into a [ IMG ] URL [ /img ] thing

I use Photobucket for sorting all my photos (the album function comes in handy), and I've used hundreds of them in Argonath. So far, it works fine.

i think its more because flash/java or watever it uses is not my computers friend haha.. i use tinypic, but i would prefer to use the upload/attach feature on the forums itself.
