Post by: BlackEagle on September 17, 2011, 06:16:31 pm
"Sorry BlackEagle, you are banned from using this forum!
rint_daw
This ban is not set to expire."

Could be a banned IP you tripped on. Have you reset your modem yet and tried to get a new IP?

I hate when people give non-descriptive bans like that, or confuse the ban message with the admin information/details. Banned users, including those falsely banned, don't have a clue what is going on. It also bothers me when provoking comments are left to taunt the banned user. I know the admins who banned them are angry, but seriously...that doesn't seem very professional. Don't stoop to their level guys! Be professional! It's more of a taunt than a cheesy comeback is. :)

When you leave a taunting message, their focus is on their anger with being banned and how to get around it. When you leave a professional and clean reason, their immediate reaction is fear and what to do next now that they are banned. They are also much more likely to learn from the mistake if it's based on fear rather than anger. :)

@BlackEagle: With all the spam-bots and community banned users that try to evade on ARFD Forums, I see this a lot. Users with dynamic IP's will often pick up a banned user's and you get exactly what you saw here. As long as you know the ban isn't against you, and you have a dynamic IP, resetting your router shouldn't be an issue. If you are banned though, don't do this to evade or you will get a routeban!

As far as I remember when using a few proxy services, many proxy IPs were banned because of iMunna and other people.

Normally I don't use proxy, I get the ban message at my original IP first.

Yes, this is common as well, thanks to Argo's various enemies who just can't get enough of this great place! :)

Happened to me before as well when using proxies to enter the forum, the same with rint_daw and all.
Quite weird that it does happen while using your own IP, though.
