Title: Forum changes
Post by: Gandalf on October 01, 2011, 12:44:18 pm
Perhaps you are panicking as you can not find back the section you usually open... stay calm there are just a few minor changes.

In order to have room for new developments, we have decided to group the main index by game, thus reducing the number of categories on the main index.

Once you get used to (maybe) an extra click, there will be nothing really changed.

LU?

It looks okay...

What about making the bug report boards, sub boards of each section?

Unfortunately the package does not yet support that, otherwise it would have been done at once.

Ah okay, well could they be moved under each respective board? Rather than at the bottom of all?

Also, As each section has a main board, what can be posted in there?

It looks allright and we'll get used to it in no time.

I was wondering why I ended up in the SA:MP stunting section instead of the SA:MP unban requests. :D

Oh ok, that's interesting.

I doubt it is going to cause any problems as it looks pretty much the same as before, just things are all tied in.

Seems alright. I'm guessing LU would have it's own section.

Here's my suggestion; Move all those helpdesks in to one separate category.

Gandalf, you know how San Andreas have all of the servers in one place.

Well, why doesn't you have a section that is called: GTA: Liberty City and place IV:MP and LU In there, that would be more in keeping with the layout.

Just a suggestion.

San Andreas is one game. GTA3 and GTA4 are completely different games.

I got DB errors before, when trying to inform people in PM of my inactivity before. Haven't tried since, but I know how frustrating it can be for you...

The only database errors that I know of originate from using special characters in the text. Strange enough as I never pre-type my posts in another editor I never have a problem with those...

Use the ticket system and avoid special characters and the extra long dash symbol.

Click the "Helpdesk" link in the navigation bar at the top of the forum and when submitting the ticket, change the department section to the correct one ;)

The update is okay, but I have one problem. In the previous forum layout. All the servers were seperate. So I only kept SAMP/IVMP/Speakerbox/Announcements because I do not want to know about VCMP/MTASA/MTAVC. Now I'm updated with their stuff which is not what I want. I hope these 'child boards' can still be removed.

Regretfully saying, it can't be. That is the problem I'm experiencing as well, but I still got used to it.

I just looked up and saw that yes, there is an option. Go to your profile -> Account settings -> Ignore board options ;)

I noticed a bug, hard to explain.
If something is written in VCMP Ideas board, it won't appear while checking 'VC:MP General Multiplayer'

in short, VCMP has those boards
VC:MP General, Vice City - City Hall, VC:MP Unban Requests

we should add VC:MP Ideas, then the new posts in Idea board will show up I guess
Title: Re: Forum changes
Post by: stormeus on October 15, 2011, 06:12:57 pm
This happens in all boards, because the forum software doesn't treat them as if it was in VC:MP General. There might or might not be a setting to change that.
Title: Re: Forum changes
Post by: ~Legend~ on October 15, 2011, 06:30:59 pm
Yea, I think it is just the way it has been compiled.

The overall VC:MP General section itself is now a child board, as was VC:MP Ideas in the past.

Talking about forum changes; would be great to see a revamped Forum Admin Team.

It's because a parent board only shows unread logos if the topic is in it or the first-level child board. It doesn't do it for "grandchild" boards.
