Title: Recommend a good Microphone?
Post by: Clone on October 31, 2011, 09:29:02 pm
Well I've been using this crappy integrated microphone on my laptop for a few years now. This christmas I'm gonna be getting a new desktop PC, for which I'll need a nice microphone for Skype etc.

I'm open to any kind of microphone, headset, tabletop etc.

My budget is maximum 50 GBP.

I'm looking for a fairly priced microphone with good sound quality, please if you know a good one recommend it!

Thanks!

Personally bought a headset from poundland for guess what?! 1 POUND AMG NO WAY.

Works beautifully, am understandable to anyone I speak to, and its only 1 pound! Go to your local poundland, buy one, and then go out and buy something that its worth paying 50GBP for

Yes. First time I bought it was 10 bucks. I was like, ok, looking good, mic 'n all.
Breaks in a week.
Second time, I thought this was a better, improved version, bought it, never again, broke in a week.
Third time, I was like, hell no, then I saw the price, it was on a huge discount, I was like, what are the odds to break again?
1 week later I gotta move like a retarted monkey to hear something, breaks in 2 weeks.

I'm considering getting these. (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Pc-151-Analogue-Headset/dp/B001KWXWKW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320786018&sr=8-1)
Any opinions?

Considering a headset, I don't know if you prefer over or on ear speakers. I prefer over ear, since my earshells hurt from those on ear ones after a while.
I recently bought this (http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-JUG-00001-LifeChat-LX-3000-Headset/dp/B000J4WPW8)

Just out of interest, did you actually do it!  :D

I think I'm gonna start a project, putting foam round my microphone, and earspeakers to muffle background noise.

Wish me luck!

Damn foam will cost more than the headset  :D

Get a half-decent mic. Spend a bit more cash on it, and you won't have to spend 3x as much buying cheap ones that break every 5 minutes. Plus, with a better mic, you get pro quality, and a pro radio show (even if there are only 10 listeners :D).

I have had this microphone for over 5 years, and it still works to 100 percent since I got it. I paid 99 Swedish krons for it and that is not much at all.
