Title: How long will this lag continue within the SA:MP server?
Post by: Antonio. on November 11, 2011, 08:55:43 pm
It has been going on for long enough. Is it being fixed and what is the cause for this? You can't even enjoy playing on the server with all this lag...

While this lag indeed annoys the hell out of everyone in combats and combats are there (we're playing GTA), but that doesn't mean you can't play without keeping your finger off the triggers for a while.

>Implying lag only as an effect on the usage of weapons.

I cannot even follow someone else properly while driving as every few seconds they shoot off into a random bush or into the sea.

The lag is really annoying. But most annoying is that it already takes too much to be so. Most of the time you can not move normally, and does not make sense to mention driving a car... I very much hope that Gimli will fix it.  :D

When Gimli removed carlock system for a seconds it stoped lagg, when he addet it back it started lagg again,i was in server during the testing,so I can possibly guess, broken script and nothing terrific, couple time and correct script fixed and argo gona be as it was 8 months ago.

Laggs started with a script, script might crash or scripters missed somthing when they were adding it and as you are aware we got loooots of scripts it's realy hard find the correct one wich is not working, takes a time but atleast they started work it out so I hope soon rivers on turns won't love us so bad.

Personally I think it's more than one script.

I suggest taking the /carlock script out for a while...I don't use it all the time anyway

Perhaps it is time for round 2 of script cleaning.

Or it's just time to remove irrelevant commands or unnecessary scripts that aren't being used anyway.
I myself suspect that this effort with the new event-info-bar thingy is one part out of those bullshitty(sorry for the expression, can't find any other term that fits) , new scripts that cause this lag.
This literally prevents you from playing normally as well as it gets you punished for complaining one damn time.

There is no problem in adding unecessary scripts or having unecessary scripts, thats not the problem wich currently laggs argonath, it's just one or multiple broken scripts causing it and as it's for long time,it might be som old script .

The lagg annoys indeed. It's not only by using a weapon.. Like said

No, it's not the host.
Gimli tried to remove most of the scripts yesterday to see if the lag was caused by the scripts, and the source of lag was the vehicle script or something like that, so it's up to Gimli, I guess.

I had one too, it was shitty yeah but still fun to drive. Give it some hydraulics and it drives quitte good actually. Only needs some more speed, that's all. And you can bump stuff for like unlimited times because it just won't die.

Other servers in the community are not experiencing issues.
Other servers in the community does not match up to the same amount of players, therefore the lag.

Que it's not people ammount causing those laggs, half of my time I've been playing argonath when scripts werent broken it was fine for everyone with all 200 people online.

There have been lag issues over a year ago when ~150 players were ingame, that's right. But they never had negative influence or caused forced reconnections whatsoever.

The server has always lagged more or less if the amount of players been over approximately 130 players.

You were inactive at Gandalfs birthday,we had all full 200 players, except of unexpected crashes due that 200 people are at one small area  ,none laggs were expierienced.

Sounds pretty unreliable for me to be believe, however, the usual cause of the lag is possibly because there is too much players on the server. There can also be scripts that is not made in the right way, which will only start to lag whenever a large amount of players are using them.

I also do not believe this. Ever since I started Argonath, when there was stuff going on wether it being parties, events and shootouts, that area lagged like shit. I remember big wars that went on such as San Fierro vs the Ballas, or Stracci, where it contained 50-70 people, that certain area lagged.

Yes ,lagging was only in specified spot where all action happened, other than that out of spot there was no laggs expieriencing .

  • Personally. Reduce ammount of state cars ( make it -10 )
Sure, let's give infinite money to everyone to buy their cars then.

  • Completely rebuild the car system and the features.
RS5

  • Delete useless things, such as /elvishead, wtf.
Please name something that actually takes resources off the server.

  • Dont implement Radio Streaming in RS5 - 0.3d - Causes lags with connections - horrible desynces.
False. If i am not wrong, as I read it this way, the only thing the server does when streaming an audio is to tell the client to stream it, the server does not stream the audio thus does not cause delays in the scripts. This is the reason of why a new client is needed to add this feature and cannot done scriptwise.

  • More to come.
I'm looking forward.
