Title: GTA 3 released for mobile devices
Post by: Gimli on December 16, 2011, 06:04:52 am
Smartphone users everywhere, today is your lucky day! Rockstar games have finally released the gaming classic that is GTA III on Android and iPhones.

A full ten years after it was first released (doesn't time fly?) Rockstar is celebrating the game's anniversary with a smartphone launch.

Available on smartphones for around 3 pounds, fans of the GTA series will get a trip down memory lane in what is still a fantastic game.

Just tried it out, the graphics are great for a phone app! The controls are awesome too, not like most 3D games where driving is hard and you end up driving into walls all the time...

Works on my HTC Droid Incredible 2, with some slowdowns as I would expected since it doesn't support the phone.

But still, it's crazy how technology changed in 10 years.. I could barely run the Original GTA III on a computer 8 years ago (in 2003), and now I'm running the game on my phone.   :wow:

The game hasn't changed atall, except for graphics do look better ;) Mission, story, everything is exact same. Even the size is almost same :p

Time to get working on Multi-Player mod for that SugarD :D

Screens of the game running on my own Xperia Ray :p

When you install :

Imagine running SA:MP on your phone 6 years later :D

However I wonder why're there four apps with the only slightly different names by Rockstar Games on app store? Scam? :trust:

Won't work, Your processor is 800Mhz, I believe and no RAM or GPU.
Xperia Ray - 1Ghz snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM, 512MB adreno GPU. Same as Arc and Play.

Got this running on my iPad 2. It's crazy to think about it, I remember the exact day I began playing GTA 3 on my pc back in the days, and how excited I was, and now it's on a mobile device... Crazy times

Besides, Rockstar has definitely pulled it off with the controls! I was a little concerned about that.

Works perfectly on my iPad 2 also, but I'm waiting for World of Warcraft to be launched.

Epic game for O2X. Definetly worth the purchase. A bit difficult to aim and shoot though... Require skills :)

Nice to see a game nobody would bother to play on a PC anymore availible for these phones and other mobile devices, really gives it another life :)

Maybe Vice city in the future? :D

Android mobiles have different graphic chipsets, only 1 of those GTA 3 apps is compatible with your phone.

I have Sony Ericsson Live, 1Ghz processor and Adreno 205 chipset for graphics, GTA3 runs without lag after newest update. Sadly, no pics atm.
