Title: lose cash only when robbed
Post by: Marcell on December 30, 2011, 10:18:01 pm
quote from bug reports topic (not really quote since im too lazy)

make ppl lose their cash only while somebody loots them. I don't think it makes much sense now - you die - you lose cash - THEN you can get looted and lose more of cash ? unsure how it works

anyways; I'd advise to have ppl lose their cash on deaths only after they're looted; the cash percentage should be what they would lose by dying if it wouldn't be implemented

When looted, the looter will receive the cash you lost dieing. (How it works now)

Should work as described, aka only lose money when someone loots you.

There are some cases where this could create complications...

1. When the assailant/passer by tries to loot a dead body, the dead body is not dead anymore.
The victim has most probably respawned, and is at another part of the town.
It just sounds weird, to lose cash because someone picked a wallet from a corpse that was supposed to be you, while you are drinking a beer at another part of the town. :)

2. This could cause a script complication, if a person dies twice or more times...and someone tries to loot from the "not-latest" corpse.

3. This can be abused.
Step 1: Die with 1 mil cash.
Step 2: Respawn and give all cash to friend/deposit all cash.
Step 3: Ask friend to /c loot
The friend will get rich, but you wont lose any cash...since you dont have any.

Though the complications and abuse can be solved till some extent by scripts, through few checks on the victim's current cash.
But the current cash might not be equal to the cash he was carrying at the time of death :)

what?
he can't loot you since your body aint there anymore

lol thats how i thought it works..you need to use /c loot in small amount of time after someone dies since else his body dissapears..didnt knew it 'marked' the position of death and 'created' money there

I think you already know that corpses disappear when the victim respawns.
That time is way too short, someone not AFK respawns within 2 secs.

So, the wallet stays there for 60 seconds after death.
Even if the body vanishes...

60 seconds is way too long, really. 10 seconds is more fitting

i think 30-60 is fine TBH, its not like if you kill a group of enemy gangsters who attacked you their wallets magicly dissapear

Does it really take a minute to type a command?

If it's like 10 seconds, and people complain that they can't type in time, you can shorten the command to /c lo(ot)

the point of minute is to have time to loot bodies after you kill bunch of assasins after you for example

The wallet does get destroyed after someone picks it up....
So, nothing could possibly go wrong if people had a few more seconds.
