Title: "Loading Operating System............." - Boot delay
Post by: Clone on January 02, 2012, 12:30:18 pm
Well here's my problem, I bought a new PC, with an SSD thinking that I'd be getting fast boot times, but I'm troubled with a delay on boot. When I boot the PC I get the bios screen, then some DOS text for half a second, then around 25 seconds of "Loading Operating System..........." also on a DOS screen.

 I found this picture which is the same as what I'm getting. http://forum.corsair.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9147&d=1315022519 (http://forum.corsair.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9147&d=1315022519)

 My specs:
 i7 2600 @ 3.4ghz
 Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB 1600mhz ram
 Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 Mobo
 ATI Radeon 6950 2gb
 Corsair Force 3 120gb SSD (primary)
 WD 1tb HDD 7200rpm

 Please I'd appreciate any help on what I can do about this.

It's your motherboard. Something to do with Gigabyte boards.

As confirmed from the same thread you took the image from.

That's crazy, its slowing my boot time to around the same as a HDD..

I'd suggest;

Either return the board; say it does not work correctly.

Or;

Sell it

and get a non Gigabyte board.

Is there a bios update available that could potentially fix this issue? Configured your bios? Because having to replace the motherboard and potentially reinstall/repair Windows will be a pain.

Problem fixed, messed around with some bios settings and now it's finally gone :)

Had a slight inkling it would be bios related. It's always a good idea to go through the bios and configure manually on a new build.

I got a Gigabyte board, it sucks so fucking much. I'm thinking about switching it, and yeah.. I had this problem on one of my other PC's. Any recommendations for a good motherboard? NON GIGABYTE PLEASE.
