Hello guys.
Is it possible for someone to script some sort of web page on which you could see live chat that is going on in IVMP Argonath server? and at the same time, to respond to it? Not sure about loging in as your true name, or as some sort of guest2512, or maybe its against argonath laws? maybe it would use up a /32 slot when its better needed..
I am only awere of www.pude.tk (http://www.pude.tk) website, that shows whos online.. i was wondering maybe someone could do the chat in same way..
All i know, is that right now im at work, and i see few peuple online that i would like to have a chat, but this laptop will never run GTA IV.
I hope im clear about the web intergrated argonath ivmp chat box. :)
-
I have been wondering this same thing some time now, i would support this if possible
-
I suppose doing something like that will use many player slots and since IV:MP has the possibility of just 32 slots, it would overload the server.
Besides server already experiences some crash problems related with scripts. Adding a such complicate script would make it just worse (supposing it's doable).
Furthermore they should script a parallel administration system so that in game admins can act against a "chat"player.
And these are just some problems . .
In conclusion: it's a mess!

lets ask developers if participation in chat from web page is possible.. then we could talk about server slots being wasted..
I believe is soemthing like reading "The log", and puting more input on it.. something like that.. i beleive it would be possible in multiple ways.. if so, then we could talk about how we could kick the chatters when server is getting near full, for players that actualy wants to play.. or maybe the chat could work as "Server (1337)".. we could be that guest, without using up the slot. :)
-
Not possible since IV:MP doesn't support mIRC chat.
-
You can join IVMP argonath MSN group, its pretty active. I think Martin is in charge of it, so contact him if you want to join.

Its not the same.. not the chat that i need.. but good recommendation..
And as for mirc.. hmm... we arent really trying to create a mirc with channels and that are we?

We need a channel that is connected with Argonath's IV:MP server version chatlogs so we can see the updates of the chat. Else, I don't think it can be done.

I think it can. :)

Unless you need a server that streams the chat as a video which would cost. ;)

Both SA:MP and IV:MP have the basic capabilities. However this are the problems:
1. Security: the chat should be protected from people entering to flood and flame the in-game chat
2. Laziness: admin would instead of being in game sit out game in chat and only enter if ther were a lot of reports
3. A multiplayer game server is not a chat server. To make one from it changes how people use the game.

I clearly see what you mean.. but still..
1. Security: Im not too sure about that, but i have a feeling that floods and what not can be avoided with a little bit of scripting.. maybe just kick or warn or ban them in same way.. maybe by IPs.. if it will get out of hand.. close this thing..
2. Laziness: Add a rule for admins not to use this chat client if you have access to IVMP. on other hand, it might increase the Activness of IVMP when they are not around their home PC.
3. That one is hard to tackle.. i have a small idea, if we would to take up a slot for players, it would look good in server browser menu, as many online, there for inviting more players.. once it reaches 30/32, start droping connections from that chat client..
if use chat as "server (1337)" option, then you are absolutely right.. but i see this chat as an extra option to interract with the game, when you dont have access to it.
-
My vision is: you want to play Argo IV:MP? Then get on IV:MP and connect . . so simple.
This idea is useless in my opinion. Making it would be a waste of time and obviously scipters would encounter many issues which will lead to the abandonment of the project.
-
Once upon a time, i suggested this but it didn't get approval from Gandalf.
It would have negative side-effects for sure in that way..
I think keeping one option open would be screen where you could JUST see the chat remotely, so any player or admin could see what's going on..
Using http modules or mysql stuff would possibly be too demanding on resources or unsecure, but IRC-protocol should do fine in my opinion :)
-
aaaaight then.. lets do what pude recommends.. could we implement a chat view only box in to any web page? together with whos online list?
-
I like pudes idea better, sorry laz.

Agreed on this Above, And the Point is it will become this, so i dont support The idea.
What i do support if we add a livemap, Similar to the one samp had, with a map over liberty city and players shown.
and if that map include a Window with the livechat, sure why not, but we wont do it like some chatplace where we can chat with players ingame, from phones, and outgame and such.
ingame will remain ingame.

ingame will remain ingame.
Exactly!
-
To avoid flooding
how about.. only /cb allowed?
I see few friends online that are in 1 channel with me, i would like to tell them that i will be online at some time, so that they could be ready with me, and do stuff... :)
so empty chat box. you write: /joinchannel 1
And instantly you join the channel as someone, and from then you start to see the channel messages, and add yours. :)
-
Hmm if its possible maybe 1 public channel, for everyone outside game to join, and talk to others from ingame wich also is in that channel.
But i realy dont support this idea, but if others are into it and the possibility is there, and it will work, then im fine with it.

The only way I can say something like this is acceptable, is MTA:VC.
Other than that, I dont like the idea, since its already been stated. Can you imagine if we actually had that? If your going to want to chat outgame, you might as well use MSN. Better yet, teamspeak. I show the TeamSpeak IP all the time, and its a great solution to communication in/outgame.

Ingame? Yes.
Outgame? No.
Im at work.. i cant put my headphones on and start chating whoever is on TS.. and i doubt that whos online and i want to talk to, is on team speak server..
