Title: [Rap] Fans, let your opinion and favourite songs here. Tupac won the poll!
Post by: RafaDK on January 27, 2012, 08:16:31 pm
Hello;

As a Rap/Hip-Hop fan, I've been across many opinions and results about this poll question. I'm Eminem's fan, and I pretty much like his flow, more when he was under the ego "Slim Shady" but can't argue because the "new" Eminem sounds nice to me as well, although, I'm the first one to bow before the king, and give my vote in favor of Tupac.

Now, MTV, made a list of the best rappers of all time, and Jay-Z was leading it, but honestly I don't agree (but that's my personal opinion). I think MTV gave that title to Jay-Z due to the fact he sold a lot. But, I don't find it fair, why? - Well, all on that list changed their flow with the time, and adequate it to the season we're. While Tupac and Biggie didn't have that chance, and that created many discussions around Rap/Hip-Hop forums.

After that list, of MTV has been released, and many discussions and disappointments of the fans, there was a site that opened a poll to the fans - That list showed that Tupac was the best rapper ever, followed by Eminem. (and I totally agree with that).

Anyway, I was listening to a 50 cent song on Youtube and came across with the following comment:
I totally find that an absolute idiotic act/comment whatever you want to call it(even tho it gave me some nice laughs), but I find that everyone is free to have their opinions, so I came here for a community poll!

Anyway, my vote goes for Tupac!

You can post an "Option 6: Other" and name the rapper you think that is the best in your opinion, will count for the poll as the other options. - Try to keep the topic clean and without useless things. And yes, if you're retard enough to think Justin Bieber is a rapper, you can name him.

Good poll!

I voted for Tupac, Even though Eminem takes the cake for "skill" and "lyricism", I just enjoy earlier rap better.

Some new up in coming in the genre to look out for.

Slaughterhouse
C.O.B/Horseshoe Gang
A$AP Rocky
Schoolboy Q
Hopsin
Iggy Azalea
XV
Mullyman
Macklemore
Danny Brown
Action Bronson

My top: 1)2Pac 2)BTnH 3)WTC 4)Eazy-E 5)Biggie.

I don't really like neither Nas nor Gay-zeeee nor Eminem, used to listen to last one before, tho.

Actually you can mix 2-5 together, all good, no need to order them. :D

All those listening to Eminem clearly do not follow nowadays Hip-Hop, or have no knowledge about it at all, or they're true fans.
Slaughterhouse
C.O.B/Horseshoe Gang
A$AP Rocky
Schoolboy Q

Big up to you! Damn, I wish girls around me would listen to some fine Hip-Hop.

I listen to a lot of rappers as that's what I spend most of my time in. I really enjoy some upcoming rappers, slaughterhouse is fucking amazing. You can say what you want but Machine Gun Kelly, I'm digging that man.

Rick Ross, especially the Rich Forever tape was sick!
TI, I only liked him on the track with dre.
Waka Flocka, of course.

And besides that I listen to a lot of Dutch rap :)

And why's that?
Title: Re: [Rap] <- Fans of the Community!

And why's that?

Well, mainly because Eminem extremely changed his style of rap. Just compare tracks like Mockingbird, Stan, When I'm Gone and tracks like that, with more recent tracks like those with Rihanna or shit like that. Not saying those tracks are bad, but hmm I preferred him couple years ago.

Eminem has done nothing but matured in his career, If you ask me his new lyrics have a higher quality of  wordplay and are 10x more technical than any of his old schemes, yes they're more appealing to a larger audience but the "skill" is still there.

Of course, Slim Shady was his golden age, like I refered above.

I'm Eminem's fan, and I pretty much like his flow, more when he was under the ego "Slim Shady" but can't argue because the "new" Eminem sounds nice to me as well

He also got mature, so... He has more feelings and meanings in his songs, and not that crazy shit as we were used to see in Slim... I kinda like his new him, but oh well, I'm huge fan anyway.

Also, after 4-5 years without release a single song, he needed this new mainstream singers as Rihanna, to get a, let's say push up, and to the others that featured to him, doing a feat with Eminem was a huge addon in their carrer, basically it's all merchandise..

But, Eminem lately was looking into new talents and help them, Yelawolf, Royce, Slaughterhouse...

NO WORRIES THO, Apparently, Eminem said that he is dying back his hair, and will bring "Slim Shady" for the next two albums! - Not confirmed yet, he just threw the idea. I seriously hope, that he can keep that Slim Shady level, off drugs.

When it comes to music and especially RAP...

The lyrics is what matters...

So the prize either goes to Tupac or Eminem....

Man Papoose, say no more. I'm not gonna sit here and deny that the listed rappers are bad when they in fact are good, but there's so many good rappers out there that hasn't even got the fame to put similar tunes on the table for the people.

I can't remember where I heard this, but he's supposed to be releasing alphabetical slaughter 2 soon.

I like Tupac, Eminem, Easy E, Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z. However, I usually listen to Tupac, Eminem and B.I.G. There are only a couple of songs of Jay-Z's which I like.

@Rafa-Woah! When did Eminem say that, about returning to his Slim Shady persona?

Like a week ago in some interview.
But, it might be a fake shit, all we can do is wait for Em to confirm it, or wait to see when he releases a new album.

In my opinion, I'd gladly welcome back to Slim Shady.

But honestly, I think that was meant for the Hell Sequel album along with Royce, under the name "Bad Meets Evil", that's probably the closest we will get to Slim, after all, Eminem is drugs clean nowadays.

or this

Eminem - Like Toy Soldiers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lexLAjh8fPA#ws)

compete with this

Birdman & Lil Wayne - You Ain't Know (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7TWfqBFDw4#ws)

I just didn't add Lil Wayne to the poll so the others get a chance.

Half my memory is probably just Eminem lyrics.
But when it comes to Lil' Wayne, I just can't listen to him. I can't place my finger on exactly what's wrong with him, maybe it's his voice, but I simply can't stand his music.
The only song including Lil' Wayne that is tolerable to me is No Love.

Some of us are lovers, most of y'all haters - Lil Wayne, Blunt Blowin'

T.I. and Lil Wayne are the best rappers alive IMO

Most of you say 2Pac/Biggie are because they are dead
Look at MJ few days before he dies most of you were calling him a faggot then after he dies all of a sudden you all love him? Hypocrites much?
Same for Amy Winehouse, most of you were call her a crack head etc now she dies you love her

In all honesty there is no "Best Rapper(s)" its just a bunch of opinions

I was joking about Lil Wayne, he is the worst.
Biggie was nothing special, he talked about what 80 percent of the gangsta rappers talked about, money hoes limos and shit. He was very good, but not original.
2Pac did it too, but he also sang about his brothers on the streets, sent them messages how to make it, how to stay alive. He sang about his mother and showed his respect and love for her, which shows that he is a true man.
"8 Mile" is the only Eminem song I like. That shit is a f**king masterpiece though.

My vote goes to 2Pac.

By the way there is a very common misunderstanding, RAP =/= HIP-HOP.
Hip-Hop is the genre. It is a culture. Rap is a sub-genre of hip-hop, along with horrorcore, alternative hip-hop, g-funk and many more. Even RAP itself has its sub-genres; gangsta rap, underground rap...

Lil Wayne got a weird voice yes. And I don't like all his songs, but some of them are very good :O like ''How to love'' or ''Mirror'' with Bruno Mars. Which comes out a new official video of that soon.
All his other songs sucks. Not all actually because I didn't listen them ALL. But his voice is weird and gets boring after some minutes..

8 Mile is great, but personally Rabbit Run is probably my most favorite song by Eminem.
No chorus, no hook, no pause - Just straight rap for 3 minutes.
I actually know all the lyrics by heart and I can keep up with his speed, my only problem is that after 'bout 2 minutes my mouth is filled with spit. :L

I believe The Game was on his way to the top. He could be some ruthless war machine when he wanted to. But also, he could get rid of that boring meaningless g-stuff and rhyme about deep shit too when he wanted to.

He made an album in '10, really good one.

Tupac is and has always been the best rapper/poet alive. It was not only about his music, it was about him as a person, his creativity, his fascinating ability to talk truth in every sentence spoken.
2Pac Confronts 3yr Old Tyler The Creator (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4APF3ORGCI#)

My favorite at this moment: Tyler the Creator.
You need to understand his lyrics to find the attraction within his music style. First I thought he was just odd, but he is frankly a new poet in a new era.
Tyler The Creator - Yonkers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSbZidsgMfw#ws)

Lil Wayne was to ugly being in the video.
Martians Vs. Goblins (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gODGcVSzh1U#ws)

When it comes to other sorts of hip hop, such as "not-so-deep", I'd say The Game and Wiz Khalifa.
"Speakrs On Blast" The Game Feat Big Boi And E-40..... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5zvahGWsUI#ws)

Wiz Khalifa Feat Chevy Woods & Neako - Reefer Party HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGadzSUkdNI#ws)
"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEY IT'S A PARTEEEEEEEEEY, OOOOOOOOOH."

Wiz Khalifa- California (Music Video).mp4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37-y1qRnVNw#ws)

Hopsin, Gangstarr, Ice Cube and Big L are a few more favorites.

I mean I like some of the stuff he's put out but I wouldn't call him a poet by any means, It sounds like "horrorcore" with a widened audience. His rhyme schemes are poor, his syllable count is below par, his songwriting is decent at best, and I don't think I've ever heard him spit a punch line that made me go "Oh wow", The only thing I can see he has going for him is his "shock" value and his live performances, which I've heard are a lot like "Punk" shows. Sorry if I came off as an OF hater or a hip hop elitist but I just don't understand what all the hype is about..Maybe you could fill me in? I understand you're not calling him the best rapper ever or anything like that and that he's your favorite as of right now, I'm just looking for more info on the subject of why so many people have been tossing this kids name around.

Thanks!

IMO Earl Sweatshirt > Frank Ocean > the rest of OF

Well, Tupac's and Tyler's personality are pretty much the same when it comes to just being themselves. None of them actually gave a fuck about anything, which made my personal opinion of Tyler a lot better. If you browse through Youtube, you will find a lot of interesting interviews with Tyler, talking about his quite odd way of thinking, he obviously got two or three characters when he's doing a song, performing or whatsoever. Wolf Haley is often mentioned in his songs, which is simply himself, but the person he actually "wants" to be. It's quite hard to explain as he takes it so goddamn deep.

Tyler, the Creator BEST MOMENTS PART 2 (more funny) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0tHj1joT0g#ws)

He's pretty much doing what he feels to do. He's being himself to hundred percent. Let me find you a Swedish interview with him.

Well in my opinion there's no such thing such as the best 'rapper'
A good rapper in my opinion or in general an artist or singer, is somebody who makes music because he wants and loves it, not somebody who does it just for money and being famous...

I just hate the fact, that most of the 'rappers' change their view at some time, Ex; most of them say they will remain original and they don't care for $$, but in the end all turn to that side... #See Snoop Dogg... Rap>Hip Hop/R'n'B? I just wanna make you sweat?

~

A good rapper isn't someone who does it because he/they love music, but because, they have something to say about the world. Agreed with the money shit.

Winner was Tupac followed by Eminem. Thanks to everyone who participated and left in this topic their favourite musics and opinions. - I'll hope this topic will remain open.

Tupac was trying to stand up for the black community and give them a voice, unlike rappers like Dre and Snoop, the real studio gangsters.
