Title: Dead man, sending emails
Post by: b2311e on March 13, 2012, 08:07:48 pm
In short, a man died. Not long later, his friends recieved a couple of emails from his account, relating to things only the deceased had known

Correct, tho if there has been an private convo between the dead man and person who recieved one of the emails, and information in this private convo has been send in the email.. it should be or the person, or the dead man.....

There is a possibility to actually make an email-program send emails at a certain time and date. Could be that he sent the message but with the details to be really sent at that time?

I was thinking more along the lines of his computer once being compromised by someone thus they obtained various accounts/information in the process ,later found out he had died, then decided to be awful.

I don't know could be anything really most of us live our lives publicly through a computer, social media etc.

then decided to be awful.

It may seem awful but it actually gave those people a sense of communication from beyond, effectively helping the grieving process.

yep he could, in fact i think that because everyone who received said that they received the email with informations about what happened 1 week before he pass away, so he could wrote that in his last week to help his friend to surpass his death.

Some of the mails were about things that happened after his death.

However it is pretty simple to prank an e-mail address and the number of people that actually understand if it is faked is pretty low.
Any way, by searching originating IP they will know the location of either heaven or hell. :D

Heaven's a paradise after all, so they should have free wifi.

On a more serious note, I'd take it as a form of consolation if someone decided to take care of me using a dead friend's email.
