Title: FXAA for GTA IV
Post by: Honigsenf on March 17, 2012, 10:17:59 am
Hi Folks,

for low spec pc users who want to enjoy some kind of antialiasing with low performance loss ( 3-4 frames for me )  in GTA IV i suggest the FXAA injector. its a bunch of files which work for a lot of games.

it replaces the existing d3d9.dll and with some additional files and uses a technique / algorithm by nvidida, the ati pendant is MLAA i think. there is a whitepaper by nvidia http://developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/gamedev/files/sdk/11/FXAA_WhitePaper.pdf (http://developer.download.nvidia.com/assets/gamedev/files/sdk/11/FXAA_WhitePaper.pdf)

Aside from game performance and visuals, does this modify the way the game works at all? Injection methods usually are used by old-school trainers or hacks, which is why I'm a little hesitant about this mod. If it doesn't do anything besides make the game better through some hacky methods, though, then I don't see an issue with it.

for more it has a nice texture sharpener inside ( best effect on low texture settings ) , when open the shader.fx ( its a textfile ) there is a line

//Replace this line with #include "Sharpen.h" to add a sharpening pass

do so and enjoy

Tried it and deleted it :P

I didn't like the chat (not as clear as before).

Anyway it works fine. Effect is a bit less than pressing P.
