Earth Hour is more of a symbolic effort as the next day's global electric consumption would more than cancel out any effects anyway. Knowing the magnitude of electric consumption would be enough to tell you that Earth Hour in itself is far from enough to reverse global warming and all other environmental problems.

Nice to see the initiative by some though, although the way things are going would never truly change until those idiots we call politicians find a way to rid us of oil dependency.

What's the point of turning lights off for 1 hour .. It won't change anything at all, sadly.

Exactly, people just keep wasting electricity, doesnt matter if people turn lights off for one hour or two hours.

The point of doing it is to spread awareness of wasting energy. Im sure when you own a home and have to pay an electric bill you all will take this a little more seriously :P

North Korea seems all up for Earth Hour.

Now in all seriousness, if the world really wanted to make an impact by shutting off electricity, then they should do it for a month or longer.

Although of course, that would be impossible for obvious reasons. :rules:
