Title: Tutorial: How not to get Casino SCAMMED and What to do if you do!
Post by: Petey on April 23, 2012, 01:35:49 am
I've been seeing more and more threads about people being scammed in casinos, and other types of deals and its about time you guys learn how to pick a scammer and when you should walk away.

Casino Scammers:
What are they:
These are the people that go and be a casino dealer while not having any money at all and aim to take all your money with out you knowing that you had no chance to win to start with.

How to spot them:
If you have never seen this player in the server before, you should think, can this person cover this bet.

Generally they are (new) players, so first thing you need to do is /whenmade them.
If you find they are not even a day old, do not gamble with them.
If they are a under a week old do not gamble with them.
If they are over a week think! Would you believe they were able to make the money you want to be in that weeks time. Chances are do not gamble.

If you find they are over a week old and you want to gamble with them and are still not sure they can cover it,
Step 1: /admins - If there is no admins on, I think you should not bet, don't take the chance
Step 2: /pm <admin id> Can <ID and name> cover a <amount>bet
Step 3: wait for a response, the admin will reply with a yes or no, they will not tell you how much a player has.

Still not sure if this person is a scammer or not DO NOT BET.. If you Really want to bet, /getphone, /td and print a screen shot, This is so if something does happen you have a record of the player and the time the bet has taken place.

What to do if you are scammed: (Ingame)
If you find that you have been scammed, first thing not to do is spam the chat with ID blah blah blah is a scammer, take a second, take screen shots of the bet taking place and /report <id> <reason> So Admins or Mods can check out the guy to prevent another scamming.

Please note: If an Admin or Mod does look in to the report that 90% of the time you will not get your money back right away as most chances with out proof of the scam happening or seeing it from they start they will not force the player to send money over (most cases they have already left the server)

What to do if you are scammed: (Out of game)
This is when as you can see from other threads that takes a while, first thing you need to do is check your screen shots you have taken as well as your SA-MP Chatlog('your'documents/GTA SA User File/SAMP). This is the important bit, in any word processing problem create a new document:

Subject: Casino Scam
Date/Time: (put the date and time this happened)
Players Involved: (Your FULL ingame name, The scammers FULL ingame name)
What happened: (In your own words explain what happened)

Save this documents, so you can use it later.

Now with what you have just created you now can Email [email protected] (YES this email does get check, it takes a few days and you may not see a response right away but it does get checked) with everything you have written in your word document.

Please note: it is not needed to post your screen shots, as long as you post the time and date, and the players names the logs can be checked quick and fast.

If you do not hear back from the email or have not received your betted money back (you will not receive winnings) you may then pm a SA-MP Manager the same thing you have written in your word document. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT spam their email.

You must now play the Waiting game....

If you make a proper court and police department, most of the scammers won't enter in the casino. Still, congratulations for the work and this topic.

Scammers will always get caught and banned you do know that, it has nothing to do with the courts and police

If someone scam you in a casino, you should to call the police and tell them the situation. Then you will appoint a lawyer and sue the fraudsters. Winning through good and creative role play creates a pleasant atmosphere even for your opponents.  :)

Unforunatly the police can't do nothing in this case. In most cases the scammer quits the game and changes name.

This must be punished with BAN.  :pop:

On a phone; quoting is impossible.

Petey: Then that is their loss. :)

Mikal: You just had to bring that up. However, I certainly remember that you don't bet with your feet.

JDC whats with your posts title?
And I don't gamble since it's pathetic, you win once, you think 'wow I must be lucky,' you gamble again, you lose.

For some reason, my phone browser and the wap version of the forums have decided not to change my post title automatically whenever I post.
