Title: North Korea threatens to reduce South Korea "to ashes".

North Korea's military vowed a new and unusually specific threat to its neighbors, saying it would reduce South Korea "to ashes" in less than four minutes.

The statement, released Monday when programming was interrupted on North Korea's state TV by a special report, comes amid rising tensions on the Korean peninsula.

Earlier this month, North Korea was unsuccessful in a long-range missile launch, prompting worries that North Korea may conduct another nuclear test. South Korean officials say new satellite images show that North Korea has been digging a tunnel in what appears to be preparation for a third atomic test.

According to the Associated Press, the statement from North Korea was unusual in promising something soon and in describing a specific period of time.

The North Korean military threatened to "reduce all the rat-like groups and the bases for provocations to ashes in three or four minutes, (or) in much shorter time, by unprecedented peculiar means and methods of our own style."

For months the North has castigated South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and the conservative administration for insulting their leadership and criticizing a new cruise missile capable of striking anywhere in the south.

South Korean officials responded, urging North Korea to end the threats. "We urge North Korea to immediately stop this practice," Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Hyung-suk said, according to the Associated Press. "We express deep concern that the North's threats and accusations have worsened inter-Korean ties and heightened tensions."

Meanwhile, in a meeting Sunday with a North Korean delegation in Beijing, China's senior official on foreign policy praised the leadership shown by North Korea's new young leader, Kim Jong Un.

The meeting follows the April 13 launch of what the United States called a disguised ballistic missile test by North Korea. The rocket disintegrated minutes after launch.

This is a clear sign that north korea is in posession of nuclear warheads, and we all know how unstable the country is.

I personally wish that N.Korea gets invaded, seriously thats the only way, if they get nuclear warheads were all doomed. If we invade N.Korea we liberate over 160k prisoners(yeah, 160k of its own people in nazi-like prisons..). Plus we also save the lives of millions who live in that hell.

IMO America needs to GTFO people business and manage their own country, although I'de love to go to America, the money they waste on being in other peoples countrys stealing their oil, giving guns to the taliban and just pissing people off could be better spent, back on topic I highly doubt North Korea will do anything at all, like I said nuking a country over such a minor thing is just murder and the world wouldn't let it happen.

The only weapons capable of doing that kind of damage is most likely an EMP, but no country has ever developed such a weapon (or not publicized) yet. EMP only existed just before a nuclear blast.

North Korea is secluded from the rest of the world because of what their eternal leader Kim Il Sun wanted for his people. Before he died, he had seen what Japanese occupation in Korea had done to his people and his culture, he wanted to seal himself off from the rest of the world so that western influence would not corrupt the way his people had lived for centuries. he wanted to avoid another chance for his culture to be destroyed. DPRK only threatens the rest of the world because they do not want to be a part of it. If people left them alone, we would have no issues with them. North Korea only cares about its own sovereignty, they want to develop without the assistance of the rest of the world, they want to stay as independent as possible. They will not attack anyone other then maybe some border clashes with South Korea. They dont want the attention as much as people claim.

I was actually serious since I've never heard anything about Antarctica before, but it just goes to show what you can learn from being part of the Argonath community. :razz:
Anyway, I guess it's good Antarctica is free from humans completely destroying another continent of Earth.. ;)

the artic and antarctic are actually gonna be future war zones most probably..

They both are unoccupied, and are pretty much just sitting on loads of resources like fuel oil and precious metals.
They are goldmines to whoever occupies them, for now we dont have enough machines to go to the artic and bring much back, but all countries are already mining the arctic and continuously assigning more and more machines to it, and soon they will come to a standoff too...

Unless google's space operation goes through(which would reduce the value of almost all "precious" resources to nothing) artic will be a damn hot place to fight world war III. Even nukes may go off, since its only the enemy military affected and wont be much problemsof killing civilians..

If an enemy of war did have a base set on a polar icecap, they wouldn't use nuclear bombs... Military bases are small enough to use something much weaker and still completely obliterate it..

Yes. The ones with the highest probability of nuking the polar ice caps are found inland, not coastal states such as North Korea, unless they wanted to drown 90% of their country under sea water.
