Title: Removal of emp and nails
Post by: Kessu on May 02, 2012, 10:00:10 pm
This is I guess my first idea post in 4 years+. I think.

What happened to the good ol' chases where you had to rely on ramming techniques and roadblocks? People who played back in 1.1 times know what I'm talking about.

As title says, I'm suggesting the removal of EMP and nails (yes, I know, I use nails the most blabla), to give back some of the feeling of 1.1

People actually using their brain to chase an Infernus with a cheetah instead of PCJ (with exception of me, I can still pull it off).

TO SHOW the players INDIVIDUAL skill (ye, blabla most of u will say it's not a competition but a nice add) I say fuck that, it's not an addition, it's just something you type that has absolutely NOTHING to do with counteracting with others (what use do nails really have except of trolling?). EMP on the other hand is actually useful, but seriously EMP'ing a chopper on top of water for fun (again, trolling).... :D

TL;DR Remove EMP and nails to bring back the skillfactor in situations such as chases instead of who types faster.

Thank you, come again.

pls no shitstorm D:

I actually agree there. It's nearly impossible to chase a suspect who has mastered dumping these invisible nails in the road. It would be a more fair pursuit if people could chase each other without having to avoid something they can't even see :P

I played since the beggining of 2011. I managed to buy Pay N Spray off an inactive player, and thus I had infinite nails.

During that time period I was in many cop chases, and the cops knew how to evade nails properly, these days I don't use them anymore since I don't own a PnS thus I don't have free nails, but either way I'm extremely neutral on removal of emp or nails, since I simply enough don't give a shit if they are here or not, they don't make any difference to me.

I actually agree with this. Because, the nails make the criminels a bit too Over Powered. And the cops as well are a little bit OP with their EMP, but it's easy to evade.

Agree with this totatlly.

I think nails are being removed in the next server version (unless they get an early removal in 1.9x as well).

As for EMP, I don't think it can be fired at an unwanted player.

If EMP and nails are to continue existing, I would only save those for rare, special occasions when a player becomes so wanted that the entire police force is after them for an extensive period of time :P

I wasn't here for the addition of EMP and nails and I have no idea why they were added, but I'm cool with removing them, as long as gaming skill isn't equivalent to glitching.

Most of VC:MP glitches can be only done on foot, while EMP and nails work against vehicles.

That's why gaming skill means driving skill here. Removing these tools will just spice up pursuits.

IMO EMP's arent overused. Most of the action happens in the pursuits. I love pursuits!
Removal of EMP would be a great change , but therefor there must be some sort of another weapon for the helicopters to use, so they wouldnt be useless.

In SAMP, they use PD helicopters, so they can keep visual with the suspect, since blips are visible only if youre close.

Now, VCMP has the blips seen all over the map, therefor VCPD Helicopter with no gun is less than useless.

If you cannot find use to a chopper EVEN if it has no script support, then you are doing it wrong. How else do you think you can keep up with PCJ and bankrobber's heat up, if not with a chopper?

As I said in other topic, do not stick your nose in when you do not know nothing of what you are talking about.

Keep telling that to yourself, i do not need your advices.

Police chopper might be used to quickly get from place to place, or maybe ramming someone off the road, but i cannot find any other uses of it, so i preffer using a cruiser.

I'm okay with removing EMP and nails for pursuits on cars or bikes but my concern is with boats. How is it possible we can catch suspects on boats?

From the looks of your past, you need all the advice you can get.

Anyway, forwarding the point Kessu made, a Helicopters main use is being able to easily tail an escaping vehicle and keep them from losing any heat while the ground units take action.

Shadow jumped on my boat using police helicopter and we both killed ourselves so your arguments are invalid

2 facts: EMP is useless as targets ( if they are EAF/DC ofc ) know to get off it by either blocking my range through fantastic turns or roads where choppie can't get or just get off vehicle
Nails are so common, that when you chase a suspect, you shall not slipstream him, considering the danger of losing your tires on the middle of the road, so pretty useless as cops got /spike which is visible

Nails, EMPs have been removed and these changes will take effect once the new gamemode is uploaded and the server is restarted.

Thats is a rather solid point. +1 By the way I'm also rather happy about the outcome of this topic.

Indeed, I find it much more better when you don't need to worry some random civilian dropping nails from his car
