Title: Man drowns rescuing two drowning children
Post by: Reece on May 27, 2012, 07:57:00 pm
(http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02231/BPYTY3_2231362b.jpg)The man, who is not believed to be related to the youngsters, saw them struggling while playing with the inflatable just five yards from the shore.

He swam towards them and managed to get them to safety before getting into difficulties himself at West Wittering beach, near Chichester, West Sussex.
Members of the public called an ambulance at around midday on Satuday, but paramedics were unable to resuscitate him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have said there were no suspicious circumstances and that they are treating the death as a tragic incident.

A spokesman added: "The tragic incident occurred on West Wittering Beach whereby a 25 year old male accidentally drowned.

"The male went to the assistance of two children playing in a rubber ring some five metres from the shoreline.
"He managed to get the children to safety but in doing so put himself in danger which sadly resulted in him drowning"
The emergency services said they were not able to confirm the age and gender of the children, who are understood to have been at the beach with their mother.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said paramedics had attended along with an air ambulance, but the man had been pronounced dead at the scene.
The children were checked over and did not require any treatment, he added.

The popular beach, said to be "very busy" yesterday due to the warm weather, is known locally for its shallow lagoons which children play in.
Police are also appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old man drowned while swimming in a lake at Milton Keynes, Bucks., during the warm weather this weekend.
He went missing in Caldecotte Lake in the city on Saturday evening. His body was recovered this morning.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Ian Jarvis said: "It was a warm day and there may have been lots of people by the lake at that time and we would urge them to come forward and speak to us. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, however it is essential that we understand as fully as possible the events leading up to the tragic death of this young man."
On Friday evening a 15-year-old boy drowned after jumping from a bridge into a river.

Emergency services were called at about 8.30pm yesterday when the teenager, named locally as Hussain Mohammed, jumped from Donnington Bridge in Weirs Lane, Oxford into the River Thames but did not resurface. Friends said he could not swim.

The world needs more people like this. RIP.

You can drown in 2 inches of water if your nose and mouth are covered, 5 yards from the shore is a couple of feet depending on how steep the beach is, not all beaches are nice and flat or shallow, the UK is a dangerous place round it's shores.

Nice to see Reece posting something that does not involve masturbating or eating human body parts.

On a more serious note, that man was a true hero. I hope he finds peace, wherever he may be now.
