Title: Improved CB radio
Post by: Morphine on June 16, 2012, 07:43:39 pm
Putting all the "why make VC:MP look like SA:MP" stuff aside,

I've seen a few nice options in the CB channels on the SA:MP server, such as:

Above all of those options, have it so you don't tune out of CB after death.
sending CB alerts (announcements), setting CB channel moderator rights, kicking people from CB channels and setting CB channel names/titles.

I'd like to see those implemented in 2.0 since I think/am quite sure they'll popularize the use of CB radios on VC:MP a bit more.

So, in short, it'll be a bit like in Team Speak, but still nice.

I was already waiting for someone to post this idea. This is much better then the CB system we have now.

Personally I think it's just unnatural. I'm willing to keep the CB tuned after death and remove the frequency from FBI messages, but CB alerts, kicking, moderating, and registration takes away from the CB radio aspect and makes it more of your own personal chat room than a radio, and it looks ridiculously bloated. I say do a better job maintaining your channel's secrecy or use TeamSpeak.

I take back my suggestions then. Having personally looked up what a CB radio is an hour ago, I can safely say that what the SA:MP server has is not a CB radio system.

They are.
I think he was referring to local chat (/w, /l, /s).

Again, they are. Speaking into a CB radio invokes a local message that anyone within earshot can hear.

it also would be cool that the channel saves when you disconnect / timeout so you don't have to set it again when you login back

First of all, disconnecting from server and timeouts are like total beginning of the RP next time you enter. In SAMP though, we spawn at the same place where we last left the server. So, technically we shouldn't auto tune to a frequency, in vcmp. Also, how much time it takes to type /c tune <freq.freq>

Try to do that in a shootout in the middle of a bankrob

Try to spawn in to a shootout in the middle of a bankrob.

/c tune <freq.freq> is not that long to type ON SPAWN. (As far as I know, you always need to spawn after timeout/disconnect.

Professional criminals never think of tuning in the middle of the bank rob, they tune to a frequency before entering one. This is the basic difference between EAF and other gang members personalities.
