Hey, I kinda wonder why SA:MP Oscars are not given anymore, and I heard rumors that it's because people meant it'll be unfair and stuff for blablabla... but, the fact is that, those who are like showing off public and actually working hard and stuff, will be awarded with them. People vote fairly for those who they think deserve a oscar, and it's very positive actually, because it motivates people to work further for this goal.
Discuss, please maintain mature, I do not wish to see any special immature comments here.

I have seen many oscars and quite frankly, I have never seen one passing without problems.
Neither people are voting unfair and go insane when they are dismissed from the voting process or others go mad because they 'think' they deserved a particular award more than someone else.
Personally, I always loved the Oscars, but somehow there were always people lurking around to cause problems.
Essence of the story remains; Should the oscars be given up for the negative aspects or continue for the positive aspects?
I believe it is a tradition for the Oscars to happen and it's always nice to see some people being awarded for their actual work or input on the Argonath Community.
Maybe it should be reconsidered, but then I do hope people should actually play it fair for once and stop moaning.

If theres no oscar that doesnt stop us, the players.
If no oscars happen, we can hold the nobels!

Actually all of the awards are run through the system set up by RON now, Oscars included. SA:MP wasn't restricted this year, nor were any other servers. The Oscars just didn't happen because RON didn't have time to focus on them this time around. They haven't gone away. :)

Well, isn't there a possibility that the Oscars could be organised by someone else but based on the system that have been setted up by RON?

FYI in the past we have had two types of awards:
1. The Oscars, voted for by players. Often led to discussions about corruption and secret deals between groups to get the award.
2. The Nobel awards given by the Management. All winners got of course accused of asskissing.

Ok then make them disucuss about corruption and secret deals between groups to get the award. Let them accuse people of asslicking/kissing. That just shows them that they are working hard for it and not only sitting on their ass waiting for the award. As in SAPD before. People thought they got promoted because they were cool, being stubborn and strict in their meanings, but the actual way for a promotion was working hard for it, showing the interest by making the department active and leading officers into success.

I think RON had a replacement idea he announced regarding the Oscars, but during his inactivity, they were never done this year.

Who knows, Steven Spielberg slept with the Oscar management, that's why he holds the Oscars he won? *sarcasm* :devroll:
Jealous people will always accuse the achievers of cheating, the show must go on.
However, if someone actually caught, must be punished.

I have little doubt the administration can name plenty of suitable candidates. :redface:
