Title: Turkish war jet has gone lost near Turkish-Syrian borders
Post by: Emre on June 22, 2012, 07:06:51 pm
Here's the full story, but I cannot believe that this is confirmed ...

Confirmed by CNN Turkey, Hezbollah and another television station. Now I ask, who'd pay for such war propaganda?
I did a little research and I found this (http://english.alarabiya.net/articles/2012/06/22/222135.html). They seem to be alive, read the article.
A search and rescue operation was allowed by the Syrian government, apparently.

It's the same thing again. The news update from only one side of the conflict. You can see it from the narrative perspective of the article. Journalism equals poetry, nowadays.

I'll think a little unorthodox about this, this cannot be caused by the Syrians themselves, someone else is linked there ...

I saw something on TV about this matter.
The volume was low so didn't exactly hear what happened, but I saw a Turkish jet randomly fall down out of the air.
It was filmed from another jet.

Whatever it was we got rid of clever comments.

Anyway is it confirmed that the jet was shot down or not?

It was shot down as a result of a mistake. So was said by Damascus.
The world doesn't need more tensions in the Middle East.

I'm sure that there will be a war in sooner time anyway, even if not caused by Syria or us. What I feel surprised about is that Syria expects everyone to get over with it considering it a lush "accident"

No worries, Syria will be done like Libya sooner or later.

In Swedish Media, they said Syria shoot it down and then Turkish Costguard find the plane at the sea. Also Syria Costguard help too.

It was probably Russians who took it down, so Turkey will not even think of a response.

Whell i hope that that showed NATO that they cant just do whatever they want with other countries. They cant just walk (in this case fly) into another country without permission. When NATO bugs some country, it is all "Legit and OK", but when some other country stands up to NATO it is automaticly  a "war crime, evil, bad" and that country is automaticly labeled as a country filled with evil... GIMME A BREAK!

The jet was unarmed, unlike the title suggests. Turkey claims that it was shot down in the international flight zone while Syria says otherwise.

Now Turkey decided to reinforce its border with Syria. Syria knows that they can't match Turkish military capabilities, so they act very cautiously (good morning Assad). Meanwhile high ranked military officers of Syria escape to Turkey, along with ~50000 Syrian civilians. Looks like Turkey has all the + points and Syria keeps getting - from the international community.
Things have been damaging the prestige of Turkey in Middle East, they want to gain it back. I believe as soon as the USA presidential election is over, Turkey will internationalize the Syrian crisis and will do its best to remove Assad from his chair and say "we are still here".

Whell i hope that that showed NATO that they cant just do whatever they want with other countries.
Why do you care, its too late for your country anyway.

It's just like you said. Turkey was the only potential country in the middle eastern area to have solid and well-known reputation. Now that they are literally being dragged into conflicts between themselves and Syria, ...

I love this part.

It was probably Russians who took it down, so Turkey will not even think of a response.

Russians (and Chinese) are constantly blocking the attempts of NATO to start World War 3 in the UN... that's not even plausible.

Only the weapons are Russian. Moscow is too busy getting rich. Just a couple of months ago they sold $550 million worth of combat jets, not to mention the regular firearms transfered every week. They currently prefer supplying the local wars instead of fighting themselves.

Even if it was Russians, I wouldn't be so sure about the "no response" part.

instead of fighting themselves.

What do you think that makes up a reason to intervene in these conflicts? o_o

Do you think Russians would give up their only base in Meditarenean that gives them military access so easy?

Because that will happen if the current regime falls. They've been supporting the current regime since it's beginning. And yeah it's not a suprise it happened the same week after they send an armada of missiles and Spetsnaz commandos and Missile system experts in Syria.

Even in that case Turkey will not interfere in war, like Navi Marmara incident with Israel.

Do you really think that Assad will survive this year?
Also Mavi Marmara incident has already been solved through political ways, if you didn't know.

Out of topic, please allow me to make a guess. Most of the people with "Turkey can't touch anyone anymore, hehe" attitude are either from Greece, Serbia or southern Cyprus, are you one of them? I don't mean any offense, just trying to imagine what do you guys see on local news TV.

That is known, but they are blocking armed intervention proposals from NATO... so I don't know how would that fit in.

Temmuz, I don't get brainwashed by my local TV if you think so, in matter of fact all they talk about is the financial crisis and ways to get rid of Merkel. I say from my previous experience and what I know of. It's enough with your bullying and intruding everyone's airspace in the Meditarenean, someone had to stop it and if we didn't have the balls to, then Russia certainly did.

That is known, but they are blocking armed intervention proposals from NATO... so I don't know how would that fit in.

Again as I said, probably it was the Russians. I wouldn't expect myself Syria to provoke a fight with Turkey at this stage where the country is at a civil war. To add, the plane was a Phantom F-4 reconnaisance, and was probably gathering intel, again "probably" as it can't be proven otherwise. Either way NATO will not interfere because there is no interest in Syria, like Libya.

It was never fully-solved.

MANY nations EACH MINIMALLY 7 times bigger than Serbia, went in, and took 72 DAYS to beat it PLUS THEY ONLY beat us because THEY threathened to NUKE BELGRADE. So, they actually showed that they are pussies. Yea, you should be VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY proud of that ;)
