Whats your point? :conf:

I think it would be very useful command, especialy when T4 is in our reach.. Im sure there will be loads and loads new fixes and add-ons, to which we wount be able to keep up, and players in game will constantly ask: whats the update? anything new? This would save a lot of time for admins such as yourself to keep repeating to all players whats new today.. whats new tomorow.. you could say: write /updates I personaly think its a very useful and convenient command. :)

He'd like to have a command that would show players what's newly implemented into the server.
My input: Don't we have a forum and a official/sticked thread for that?

Already thouth about it, but dont u think that it would simply be.. more convenient? and short and brief.. if looking for more detail, then u can go deep in to forum till you find the right section. Its all in game! Also great for thouse who play ivmp, and dont have Argonath forum account, that is newly joined players.. but with a week of regularity or so.. I hope you understand :)
-
oh, It seems I missread the topic.
Anyway, if anything major is changed inside server, its always announced on forums.

It's not so hard to find it. It would be located in the IV:MP General section as a sticky thread.

My point exactly. That way, we can get people to register, browse around the forums and "catch them in the net" so they stay in our community. They might go to other servers as well. I hope you understand.

Your right, but it's irelevant to this command.. this command would inform you that new commands are available. for example:
[28/06/2012] Added: /cbkick /cbinvite /cbannounce
[28/06/2012] Added: /updates
We know that these things never get "announced" in forums :) And again.. very useful and convenient information? Easy to reach? you guys with me? :D
As for Void's, I think its a bit cruel to desperatly cach them new players with a net like that.. But I think thats different matter.. And the truth is.. newb players wouldnt bother going through the registration just to see the updates.. someone will provide some information in mainchat.. Better let them see how Argonath is on a constant progress, and they will sure be intrested in checking the argonath forums themselfs :)
Again, question is: Do you support such Idea? Would this command be useful or not? Or maybe you think its bad for the server?

It's not cruel at all. We won't tell them "Want to see what's new? Register on our forum!". That's just wrong. Information circles, so anyone can tell you the news.
It's far from believing that the proposed command is bad for the server. You can use your communicative skills to ask, and may I say politely, what's new around the server.
It's a good ice breaker to start a good acquaintance with someone, Lazlow.
Sticky thread in the "IV:MP General" section will always be updated, trust me.

That is a very good point! I didnt think of it that way.. I guess then we should remove /weaponshelp /clotheshelp /jobshelp and others, thus inviting more ice-brakers!
Void.. I hope you see what i mean with Informative commands and their purpuse :) that same questions are turned in to commands.. and questions about whats new in server will be quite often asked once T4 is fully here. :)

Those commands contain another 5 commands at least. That's thousands of ice-breakers(Thus it's needed)
/updates - command requires one or two full sentences. If there is a major update, you can freely check it on the forums because obviously, the post will be extensive.

I really dont see why you dont support this command.. it really looks like it harms server in some ways..
Okey, look at it this way.. Becouse its only a brief message, for example:
[28/06/2012] Helmets are fully functioned
This it'self raises questions, and can be asked in the mainchat, or looked more deeply in the forums, becouse it lacks greater details, and nobody knows what it actualy means.
But what it does show, that something new has been added today, which we could check it out, and allways be updated with small changes. Also, it shows a Argonaths great progress, which impresses players, especialy new players, who would see these updates, and think: Wow, this server is really cool, they are on a constant work/fix, and also informs us players very easily. I think thats the main essence of it. It looks good on Argonath, gives a proffesional touch. In my honest oppinion. :)

Players will still need that topic if they have extra questions, you know? Scripters will have to update this command as they would the forum thread.
OK, you managed to present your idea with good examples. I have no rebuttals anymore.

Thank you for having this discussion with me, you'r questions allowed me to expand what i ment with this command. Much appreciated Void ;)

I already added this a few days ago as /changes.
/changelog will show latest changes and /issues will show current bugs being worked on. Regards.
